How is that a special?

I wish it was optional. My children attend a different school and have to take Mandarin twice each week. It was fun at first but after four years my oldest does not like it and already knows he won’t continue in middle school.

Wow! Art 3 x per week in Arlington? Is that all schools?

I have two kids at different FCPS schools. Their specials are slightly different. I only have it memorized for one school, which is:

Art - 1x a week
Music - 2x a week
Spanish - 1x a week
Library - 1x a week
PE - 3x a week
Occasionally computer & guidance

The other kid, I *think* has Art 1x a week, PE 2x a week, music 2x a week, Library 1x a week, and some rotation between guidance, Spanish, and computer 1x a week. This kid (3rd grade) also has FLE at some point, I think - I don't know when that fits in.

No. Ours is 2 x for Art, Music, Spanish, PE. Recess x 5, and Library x 1. Similar to another PP in APS. I think this is standard.

This is the 3 times a week poster. We are at Claremont if that makes a difference, since I guess it is not at every APS school. I can not speak highly enough of the art teacher at Claremont. I find her to be amazing.

That makes sense. I wondered why you didn't have Spanish listed as a Special. Since you're an Immersion school, you don't need Specials time for FLES. I think most of the other non-immersion APS schools have the schedule I listed.

FCPS K

Library 1 time a week
STEAM 2 times a week
PE 2 times a week
Guidance every other week
6th grade buddies alternating weeks with Guidance
Healthy Habits 2 times a week (a health class, I think?)
Art 2 times a week.

It's all during the day. Frankly, I've been impressed that they managed to get so many specials in and still cover so much learning. My DD went into K not reading a single word and is reading books on her own during the holiday break.
