Shocked how ugly the City of Falls Church is

The lower elementary school is walkable as well.

I agree, it's definitely not a cute downtown. But the city does have a real community feel. Events in the park every month (Taste of FC, Easter Egg Hunt, Farm Day, etc; movies and concerts in the park) bring the whole town together. So yeah, it's not cute, but I do love being able to walk to many restaurants, library, Farmer's market, local hardware store, toy store, etc.

But I guess I am spoiled because I grew up in New England so I like suburbs to look like Newton or Brookline MA or Greenwich or Darien CT and realistically I don't think anything here is that pretty (too new, too much of either uncontrolled growth or that "built by a developer" feel, and no quaint, walkable town centers.)

I think if you want something quaint walkable and historic, it's pretty much either Gtown or Old town Alexandria and some blocks in DC proper with nice victorian homes and mansions. DC burbs are not quaint, old/historic at least the inner burbs, maybe if you go a bit further out there are some places that feel like towns, I am not from DC area, but this is the impression I got. All of these inner burb commercial areas are relatively new and have been built with car use in mind.
