Totally off topic, but the visual here is priceless ![]() |
LOL! Did that actually happen? ![]() |
I will neither confirm, nor deny. I will only tell you that upon further reflection, it really DOES look like a little Huey Louie Dewey hat. |
LMAO!
Thanks for the levity |
So any guesses on why a public servant would use his/her personal email account to communicate "public business" and know early on they want to avoid subpoenas? Conservatives please chime in. I'm all ears. |
Sometimes you just need to send your Attorney General a set of lawyer jokes, or give your health department valuable information about deodorant causing breast cancer . And what public servant doesn't want to get the occasional Yahoo greeting card, complete with animated angels thanking them for their friendship? |
As far as I'm concerned, any moron whose e-mail address is something like governor_sarah@yahoo.com, with a password of "Wasilla High" deserves to get their e-mail hacked. |
I agree with that! I'm glad the dumb one is not on my team. |
I don't know, Joe Biden described on a stump speech this week how when the stock market crashed in 1929 President Roosevelt got on TV and explained everything to the American people. Only problem? No TV in 1929 and Hoover was the President then.... seems imprudence is not solely a Palin trait. |
Biden is not hiding anything to avoid a (potential) subpoena. |
omg he really did that? ![]() |

It was live last night - now it is Memorex. |
Whoops! ![]() Should be one heck of a debate between these two foot-in-mouth politicians! |
I'm about Biden's age (a bit older, actually), so I think my ideas of FDR and the depression are probably similar to his. I remember seeing films of FDR's "fireside chats", his radio addresses to the nation. I can imagine Biden, sitting on a bus with Katie Couric with a TV camera in front of him, remembering seeing those films and unthinkingly speaking of TV, rather than radio. And, while I know the market crash was a couple of years before FDR was elected, his first couple of terms were spent dealing with its effects, so identifying him with the crash does not seem that far-fetched to me. A couple of days ago I was talking to a friend about Czech glass, and I referred to Czechoslovakia. I caught myself after the fact, probably because of the fuss about McCain having made that error, but deep in my mind, it will always be Czechoslovakia because that's what I learned as a kid. And as a kid, I watched television and I saw films of FDR, and in my memory, as in Biden's, TV and radio probably merged. Just as the market crash and the depression in general, merged in my ideas of the decades before my birth. I have argued in other threads not to overplay verbal slips like Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic, Sunni/Shiite, or Pakistan-Iraq border. Likewise, I don't think we should make a big deal of recalling a film of a radio chat as TV, or confusing the crash with the depression that followed. These guys are out there talk-talk-talk-talking close to 24/7; I recommend we give them some slack. Chalk it up to respect for your elders. |
15:36 here -- Being in my 50s, I can relate personally to what you're saying about memory....sigh...all too well, I'm afraid. But FDR on television? That seems pretty boneheaded. And if I'm going to hold Palin responsible for boneheaded comments, got to hold Biden responsible, too.
But to me, the difference between Biden and Palin is that his memory may not be any better but he clearly has more overall wisdom. Okay, I know, maybe "wisdom" is overstating it. But his verbal gaffes seem to come from his personal tendency to put his foot in his mouth while she (when I've had the actual opportunity to witness her being interviewed) acts like a college student who has crammed (rather badly) for a test and seems to be winging it in the hope the professor won't notice. But we won't know enough until we see her take a press conference. The Republicans seem to think that their hockey mom is a delicate flower who needs special treatment. |
