Tenderness of Wolves was great! This is the first time that I have seen anyone recommend it. I respectfully disagree about Olive Kitteridge though. I know that it won the Pulitzer; I just found it a bit slow. A Fine Balance is on my list. I just looked up Snow Child and might have to order it. It looks good! Regarding other recs on this thread, I also enjoyed the Art of Fielding. If you liked that, I would look into the Secret History by Donna Tart. Actually, the Little Friend by the same author is also very good. I just read A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan and enjoyed it. I love these book threads! Thanks to all that posted! |
Yay and thanks I think that was from me. |
20:13, you will love Snow Child -- very reminiscent of Tenderness of Wolves. Also try Reliable Wife.

I recommended it also. Glad you liked it, I thoroughly enjoyed it. |
I just read Crossing to Safety this summer. Loved it. Now I am on a Stegner kick, The Spectator Bird, Angle of Repose next. |
We need to talk about Kevin. but maybe not if you have a baby at home. |
I couldnet finish this book. It was too slow and I found the lack of dialog boring. |
It's verbose and slow to get into. But once you get into the flow of the writing style it's so worth it. I also second the recs for A Visit from the Goon Squad. |
Love love love the Game of Thrones series. The books, not the show. Though the show is pretty good. If you want serious character development and excellent story lines I highly recommend it. |
If you liked "Kite Runner" then read "A ThousandSpendid Suns" by same author and "The Blood Of Flowers" by another author(fiction/takes place in Middle East.) "The Adults" was very good for a trashy book- So was "Tumbleweeds." |
The Glass Castle - couldn't put it down!
Also love Barbara Kingsolver - The Poisonwood Bible, The Bean Trees, Animal Vegetable Miracle. |
