Are you better off than you were four years ago?

about the same but our home value has also taken a hit since we bought in 06

About the same- wish the government pay freeze would be lifted. I work hard and am paid well but have not seen a raise in several years. Still grateful to have a job and to have not taken a pay cut.

You lost me at "homes".

Exactly. I believe that's called a market correction. You still have two incomes, and I know plenty of people in government contracting who make bank. Sorry your pre-crash incomes emboldened you to buy more real estate than you should have. There are most definitely people who are worse off (and certainly worse of than you) but many of them were marginal to begin with. Romney's certainly not going to help them.

I for one am better off - better educated, better job, bought a home at a low interest rate - and so are most people in my family and circle of friends.

Sorry to hear that, but $80K/year is still $30K more than the average HHI in the US. We should all be taking a lesson from the Great Depression/WWII era folks and work on being more grateful and less profligate.

I rarely see Palin on TV nowadays -- big PLUS!

OTH, I miss Tina Fey.

If you have kids 18-25 who could stay on your health insurance, you're better off.

If you have a job related in any way to the auto or banking industries, you're better off.

I can't think of anyone who isn't better off, except Osama bin Laden.

I am better off, and in none of these categories. I actually lost my job in the recession, but was able to get another job, created as a result of the Stimulus.
I am better off because I see a brighter future for this country as a result of his policies. And because I know we won't go bankrupt in the even of an accident or some other medical issue that would have otherwise put all our savings in jeopardy.

Some people must be better off!

Worst off. Due to my own financial mismanagement.

Better off, though stagnant economically. My president is finally kicking the can forward on gay rights.

I think the question is: Are you better off becuase of what the government has done in the last four years?

Our own decisions, that have nothing to do with the government (babies, marriages, etc.) will make us better off.

I am better off, but not becuase I have had any help from the Obama administration.

Personally worse off because I got laid off so have taken a financial hit.

But overall better off because I have some hope for the future, as opposed to that impending sense of doom I had at the end of Bush W.'s term. I believe in this President's policies and believe that he is sowing the necessary seeds for a better society -- one that I will want to live in even if I never make a dime more than I do now. We just need to keep our eyes on the prize and stay the course.

We're worse off than we were, but because of Republicans in Congress and the Dems who refused to face them down, not because of Obama. We've had no COLA in several years and our local/state services are in shambles because of the lack of bank regulation or accountability and the unwillingness of Congress to pass an equitable tax policy.
