WHY do we (as Americans) "deserve better" than others? Tell me why, Mitt Romney.

There's a huge world out there and I'm sure some country would love to have you in their midst. Perhaps you would be happier elsewhere where you wouldn't have to tolerate us obnoxious Americans. Where would you like to live?

WRONG. Just because liberals recognize that Americans aren't special in the eyes of (your mythical) God, that we aren't better or smarter or more deserving of grace or freedom or democracy than anyone else, and that our elected leaders and military can be just as corrupt as any other nation's, does NOT mean that we hate America. I love my country and I love America. I acknowledge that we have serious problems. I am ashamed of our BEHAVIOR when we go around the world being a bully. I want to change this nation - for the better - not leave it.

Hate the sin, not the sinner.

wuss, you'd take it in the ass from iran if you had the chance

You are so in "coherrent" that you are not worth talking to, panty. Next.

LOL. I love the idea of calling trolls "Panty". Is this a new thing? I am all aboard.

I believe it comes from one Panty Sniffer.

Interestingly, in Minneapolis at Twins games when the national anthem is played, the food vendors still take orders, fans chat with each other, people still walk around.

Standing like statues and everyone going mute is plain creepy and over the top.

And respect? I should stand still and be mute for a country that is killing the middle class? All these middle class people are unemployed and scrambling to pay for their health insurance. Public education is being decimated. Student loans over a billion in debt.

And don't tell me to move out of this country because I disagree with greed and the evils of big business. I can stay here and make my voice heard.

I agree, thanks to our current administration we are on the wrong path and the past few years we've certainly been on a downward spiral, but I still respect our flag and our anthem.

I am also tired of this "American Exceptionalism" nonsense. No one owes us a trophy. This country became "exceptional" by not being hubris-laden, Rascal-driving, entitled brats. We became exceptional by working our tails off to be exceptional.

We became exceptional because Joseph Stalin and the communist party in 1930s coined the term.

Down in Kansas the national anthem is played before Royals games, as well as summer outdoor concerts, outdoor musicals, and even kids' swim meets. Everyone stands motionless, with almost everyone's hand on their heart. No one speaks...there's COMPLETE silence. Being East Coast-bred, I find this VERY CREEPY. It's blind nationalism.

Oh, get over yourself. "Down in Kansas?" WTH is that supposed to mean?

Down in Kansas means down in Kansas. I live in Kansas and I described what it's like when the anthem is played down here. Totally different experience than, say New York or Minneapolis, where people still chat and walk around during the playing of the anthem.

Yes yes
compared to Europe, we had slaves
And the red man mysteriously got sick with chickenpox and gave the land away
Then there was segregation to ensure the 'servant/master' roles.

Now the illegals have become the servants, slaves work in a third world country to make the products.
At least the rich can still get richer

Yes, there are many of us who feel moved by that stirring music and appreciative for the opportunity to live here. Your description of "being East Coast-bred" is not the reason you find it "very creepy." Many people from the East Coast do not share your feelings. Thankfully.

The comments of the OP sicken me. We can survive another 4 years of Obama if we have to but what really concerns me is the America I treasure cant survive if the majority of the country feels as OP does and can honestly re- elect someone like Obama

Care to elaborate? What is it exactly that you treasure that can't 'survive' Obama?

Yeah! It can be downright scary out there in fly-over land.

It is a good thing that Ryan has been proven to be a compulsive serial liar, the Republican convention was a total flop and that Obama is definitely, absolutely, certainly going to win in November.

That would creep me out too
Sounds more like forced religion

I am not incensitive, just do not see the need for 'worship' services or rituals. Those just make me feel silly.

And your "feelings" are so relevant and so important to so many people....
