WHY do we (as Americans) "deserve better" than others? Tell me why, Mitt Romney.

More importantly, why is Mitt Romney quoting Joseph Stalin? He coined the phrase American Exceptionalism.

If America is so awful, you have no feelings of national pride and the concept makes you want to puke, then why are you living here? There's a huge world out there and I'm sure some country would love to have you in their midst. Perhaps you would be happier elsewhere where you wouldn't have to tolerate us obnoxious Americans. Where would you like to live?

I don't hear anyone saying America is "awful." I hear people taking issue with the declaration that we're the greatest country on earth. Personally, I think a lot of these types who want to shrink the country to the size it could be drowned in a bathtub should leave for some place like Somalia, which must be their idea of a small-government utopia. Meanwhile:

Ah yes, saying we think it's tacky to brag to the world that we are ever so much better than they are is the same as saying that America is awful. You must be one of the folks who heard Obama say that the America you love so much contributes to the success of its wonderful entrepreneurs, and decided he was attacking those entrepreneurs.

GOP debate rule #1: Look for nuance and label it blasphemy!

WRONG. Just because liberals recognize that Americans aren't special in the eyes of (your mythical) God, that we aren't better or smarter or more deserving of grace or freedom or democracy than anyone else, and that our elected leaders and military can be just as corrupt as any other nation's, does NOT mean that we hate America. I love my country and I love America. I acknowledge that we have serious problems. I am ashamed of our BEHAVIOR when we go around the world being a bully. I want to change this nation - for the better - not leave it.

Hate the sin, not the sinner.

LOL. I love the idea of calling trolls "Panty". Is this a new thing? I am all aboard.

Blind nationalism is a very dangerous thing.

Down in Kansas the national anthem is played before Royals games, as well as summer outdoor concerts, outdoor musicals, and even kids' swim meets. Everyone stands motionless, with almost everyone's hand on their heart. No one speaks...there's COMPLETE silence. Being East Coast-bred, I find this VERY CREEPY. It's blind nationalism.

There is one particular poster, "body oder" poster, or "panty sniffer" as he is also known. He has a distinct pattern of less than "coherrent" writing. When you see a terribly written, asinine response, it is usually Panty (for short). He also makes stupid mistakes like "I am all aboard" instead of "I am on board (with that)". Hmmmm

Because people don't choose to be illegal aliens in a foreign country, and thus treated horribly like the USA treats their illegal aliens in search of something better.

What's with your glib question PP. Poster are you stating that as Americans, people cannot exercise their constitutional American right to utter a negative opinion against the U.S. If so, you seem to share the same views of the person who coined American exceptionalism, and his name ain't Romney.

I know you may find this shocking but this happens at summer swim meets in MD as well. it is called respect.

I don't mind that the anthem is played. What I object to is that there has to be total silence, with everyone standing still.

Interestingly, in Minneapolis at Twins games when the national anthem is played, the food vendors still take orders, fans chat with each other, people still walk around.

Standing like statues and everyone going mute is plain creepy and over the top.

And respect? I should stand still and be mute for a country that is killing the middle class? All these middle class people are unemployed and scrambling to pay for their health insurance. Public education is being decimated. Student loans over a billion in debt.

And don't tell me to move out of this country because I disagree with greed and the evils of big business. I can stay here and make my voice heard.

OP, you obviously weren't listening and your bias is blinding you.

MR did not say that Americans deserve better than others. He said that we deserve better than what we are currently getting under Obama.
