Cornell has the same suicide rate as other schools - people just take their lives in a dramatic way there so it gets more publicity.
Back in the day, Colgate was considered a safety school for people who couldn't get into top tier liberal arts schools. Sort of the equivalent of Syracuse and BU. |
| Colgate '94 grad here, Colgate is more competitive than BU and Syracuse and they are not comparable to Colgate because they are large and urban. Most of the people there from what I recall had also applied to Amherst, Williams, Dartmouth etc. And, for a lot of people like myself, it was their first choice. |
Me again - Bucknell was my second choice! But I got into Colgate early so I withdrew the application. |
Did it cause any tension that you were at a more prestigious Ivy school? |
No. He wanted to go to a small liberal arts college. I wanted to study engineering, so that would have been a poor choice for me. |
Was that ED to Colgate? |
WTF? |
No, but I hear the dental school is great!
|
No. It is not prestigious. |
| Visited and it was too remote for my son, ditto Hamilton. There is nothing pretty much around there but a bunch of washed up towns, dont agree though that its not prestigious..it actually is, no its not "Yale prestigious" but is very much a respected school. |
Hum, I'm from Florida and we knew of Colgate when I was in college. |
Yes. |
|
Seems like a different place now that it was back in the 90's.

sorry, still getting good reviews though, but some of the alumi seem to complain that things have changed....http://www.studentsreview.com/NY/COU.html |
Very solid , a good safety school for those who can't get into Davidson or W&L. Comparable to Smith, Bates, Colby or Macalester. |
