From the poster on the Amber Alert threads talking about u guys framin his brother by man ipulating stats [sic], to the poster encouraging widespread pesticide use to a few others, I'm feeling more and more BabyCenter and less and less DCUM! Is it just me or has there been an uptick in posts that are not of the mid/upper-income, highly educted, DC area-based demographics posting on DCUM?

I've been a social worker in DC for 8 years, and if that is how you characterize the population of this area, you are overlooking a VAST array of people.

I read that sentence to be a characterization of the past population of DCUM posters . . . not the population of the greater DC area as a whole.

You mean that isn't true? Someone tried to trip me on the Champs Elysee.

Nobody on the Champs Elysee is French, kind of like nobody on the Mall in August is from DC.

So . . . you're not really "into" diversity, after all?!

I'm in the DMV and wouldn't fit in your neat little box. Of course I try to keep most of that off here because people can be insensitive.

Exactly! I think you'll find that most of the diversity lovers on this board have no interest in diversity as it applies to their own lives. The talk the talk, but . . . .

Or maybe the Big Box has come to DC? I shop at the new Target in Mt Pleasant. Does that make me suburban?

"Really, you all are such snobs. Last I looked the internet was free for all to participate in. I'm not sure that adding some diversity to DCUM would be such a bad thing. Just an opinion."

Yes, but this used to be a site where well-educated people would write thoughtful and useful responses that generally could be trusted to be true. Now it has become (for me) much more a site for entertainment, as there are so many less educated people posting.

Naw, it probably just means you live in a cooler neighborhood than me. .

I would shop there, but it's too far for me to get to on weekdays, and on the weekend, it takes 30 minutes to check out because the entire population of the city is there. So I use Amazon instead.

Not true. There are lots of offices around the champs élysées (including a law firm at which I used to work) and some of the cages around etoile are where they would have lunch.
