Invisible Bridge
|
| Anyone read locked on by Clancy? Any good? |
What is playdate about? It sounds interesting. |
Playdate was very suspenseful....takes place in suburban England with 2 young families (focusing on the 2 moms- one of the moms being nutty....It is sort of like a "Lifetime" channel movie BUT really good! I am reading "Finding Emma" now and it is pretty good, too (about a kidnapping.)

I *loved* this book. LOVED. LOVED. Did I mention that I loved it?
It's been a long time since I've been that invested in a story. |

22:45 here. Other recent good reads (heh):
Astray, by Emma Donoghue ... way different from Room but better IMO Destiny of the Republic, by Candice Millard. Who knew one could fall for President Garfield? War Room, by Michael Holley, and Next Man Up, bu John Feinstein ... both are musts if you love football as much as I do I did not like The Round House as much as everyone else I've asked about it |
|
Op, did I read it right that you've just started reading? What does that mean? You never read books before?
I'm asking because I'm a life long reader....was an English major in undergrad and grad and also read Spanish and French so have also read Spanish and French novels, but here's the kicker: I pretty much stopped reading 1.5 yrs ago. I went from reading a book a week to 1 every 3-4 months. Long story but anyway, just curious why you didn't read before? |
I created a DCUM list on goodreads http://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&search_type=lists&q=dcum |
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. Great short book about a young man's ill-fated journey of self discovery. Really sad at the end; I can't shake the image of his skeletal frame and reading about his last days.
Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Fantastic book about a young boy's journey on a boat with a tiger.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. You'd be surprised how many haven't read this story. It's great. This Much I Know Is True by Wally Lamb. Gripping story about a brother's dealing with his twin's paranoid schizophrenia. Really great book. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Same guy who wrote The Kite Runner. This is a phenomenal book; I cried buckets.
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. It's kind of a book without a plot,IMO. What a fantastic, fantastic, book. On Beauty by Zadie Smith. I have plenty others. I'm currently really heavy in a vampire/wolves/witches stage, so I'm obsessed with: Kresley Cole-Immortals after Dark series. Warning: you will become addicted! J.R. Ward-Black Dagger Brotherhood series. So good. Just so damn good. Rhage, Zdadist, et al. Sigh. |

So I know someone set up a DCUM list back in January, but it doesn't seem to be updated much. I took the liberty of creating a DCUM group.
