I don't know why we are talking about this. The heller case already established that The 2nd amendment does not protect the right to own an m16 therefore an ar-15.

I have to accept that Amdmt 2 is an individual right. Gun advocates need to accept the limits within the same decision.

Exactly. Why is a ban on assault weapons a violation of anybody's second amendment rights? I really hate the NRA, they are so extreme. I can't imagine why Virginia has an NRA museum.

So, why are they still readily available at any sporting goods store? Why aren't they illegal?

A question to gun 2nd Amed. NRA types... does the purchase of 6ooo rounds of ammo ( all from the same store) over 2 months fall within your definition of normal?

It is not a constitutional right but that does not mean it is illegal either. The republicans let the ban lapse around 2004.

Does the military equip our troops with 100 round magazines? Or, are they just distributed to psychos, the gun freaks, 2nd amendment zealots & take our country back types. I can't imagine why Joe average citizen would need one unless he's planning on a killing spree.

Exactly. There's no common sense in this country whatsoever, especially among right wing politicians whose campaigns are funded by the NRA.

We just returned from 13 years overseas in 6 countries. We were asked in all countries: "why are Americans so fat? why is the U.S. so violent? Why are people walking around with guns?"

I've been living here for over 20 years and not a week goes by that I don't ask myself the same questions, along with "why are they so happy to pay for keeping people in jail and so indignant at the thought of feeding them or providing them with healthcare or a good education?"
Oh and before someone tells me to go home, I can't. DH's work makes it impossible for him to work in another country and he's not interested in retraining.

Guns are still banned from courthouses, schools, bars, polling places, meetings of any local governing body and the Legislature. But the estimated 1 million Floridians who have concealed-weapons permits now may carry a firearm inside city hall, many other government buildings and to parks and beaches. Stores, offices and other privately owned properties still have the right to limit or bar access to people carrying a gun.

actually they have separate lines for people with guns entering public venues like football stadiums in some states...
All perfectly legal. You could be sitting there and everyone around you has a concealed gun.
