Since the NRA will invariably chime in here, why the hell didn't someone whip out their own gun and take out the shooter? Because, you know, that's the answer the NRA always gives in these situations -- that if law-abiding citizens were allowed to have guns, these kind of catastrophes wouldn't happen.
Well, in Colorado, anyone can carry a gun and permits for concealed carry are easy to get. So, why didn't anyone stop it? |
Louie Gohmert is apparently asking the same question. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/20/louie-gohmert-aurora-shootings_n_1689099.html |
Ah, this will be an interesting and productive thread. |
It is an interesting question.
The NRA constantly argues that everyone should be able to walk around with AK-47s. Then they're shocked when the guy that actually does that ends up blowing away 12 people in a movie theatre. People who love guns are fucking nuts. |
+1 |
everyone over reacts after one nut job go crazy. the fact that some places are canceling the movie is stupid. the guy dropped out of med school and went nuts so let's take away everyone's rights to own a gun.
|
Mass shooting like this are tragic but by no means epidemic in this country--outside of gang wars. People need to chill out and not over react. |
Agreed. |
Yes, let's. I completely agree that we should restrict gun ownership so that we don't have any other tragedies like this. I would much rather have the gunless crazy threatening a theater full of people with death by some other method and see how successful he was. Somehow, I don't think 12 people would die in that scenario. Massacre by fistfight? I don't think so. Massacre by gunshots? Happens way too often in this country. |
Yet every time there is a violent crime in NW someone chimes in about how they need to arm themselves. And every time there is a story like the woman who shot the two people invading their home, it rallied all of the gun people, as statistically improbable as these crimes are. I think it is unfair to tell people to "chill out" when clearly there is no "chilling out" on the other side of the debate. Does the public really need to own AR-15's? |
People who love government are even more fucking nuts. |
Every day there are about 100 people in the USA killed in car accidents.
A shooting like this is tragic and horrible and I feel for the victims, but compared to traffic fatalities the number is very low. |
"People say ... where was God in all of this?" Gohmert said. "We've threatened high school graduation participations, if they use God's name, they're going to be jailed ... I mean that kind of stuff. Where was God? What have we done with God? We don't want him around. I kind of like his protective hand being present." We've threatened high school graduations with jail for uttering the word God? WTF is he prattling on about? |
He's a crazy who backed Bachmann in her paranoid fantasies about Huma Abedin. Ignore him. |
a nut job is going to do this with whatever they can get their hands on. If not a gun they make a bomb, if nto a bomd they will use poison, etc etc a nut job is a nut job. |
