Is Crate and Barrel funiture worth the price?

i've had great luck with my crate and barrel furniture (bed, bookshlves, daybed/couch, bedroom set with side tables and dresser). their solid wood stuff is better than their veneers (luckily, they lable everything well, so you can tell what you;re getting).

I really like Crate and Barrel. We have bought things from Ikea and Target and they just start to look crappy very soon and they wear down really soon.

I've gotten furniture from CB2 and Land of Nod (both related to Crate and Barrel) and it has all held up great.

You can sometimes get a coupOn for crate and barrel. Look for that?

My entire apartment is furnished 100% in Crate and Barrel furniture. I have a $900 (before shipping) media console from them, and it is on of the most beautiful pieces in my living room. The wood is very solid, and the console is large and heavy. I put all my books, all my electronics, all my DVDs, all my video games, my speakers, and my TV on/in it. The design hides all of this very well, and adds a certain modern brilliance to my living room. You can definitely buy cheaper, and the online pictures will look the same, but when you have a real solid piece of furniture sitting in front of you, the difference is very obvious. I get a lot of compliments on my furniture. I don't regret my decision to buy it at all.

I have a ton of Crate and Barrel. West Elm is not as sturdy.

You need to pick and choose at C&B. The stuff that is more affordable is junk. I bought a relatively inexpensive wood dining table there 8 years ago nd the finish is peeling and the table is literally falling apart. I also bought a wood tv console 7 years ago and it is holding up very well. When you buy look carefully at how a piece is constructed a d the quality of the materials.

You can get something like that used at Modern Mobler. You can see items online or call and tell then what you're looking for. I think he may have more in storage than you see in the store.

All of my cb furniture is solid. I doubt I will ever have to replace them.

Hm. How long have you had it?

It’s nice furniture, clean lines, well built. Is it worth the premium? I am not sure. My IKEA pieces are holding up alongside the c&b furniture.

$900? Big deal! I’ve been looking for a sectional sofa and the one I want is about 7k! Geez I never knew they were so expensive.

I bought a desk for home office from c&b and love it.

Where do you live? You may be able to find something similar at a locally owned furniture store that carries lots of nice brands and you won’t have to pay that much for shipping. People here may be able to give suggestions...
