I second that! The Grace Bay Club is amazing and the Royal West Indies Resort next door is pretty great, too (and more affordable!). Not a bad flight and GORGEOUS beach
|
| New York City. |
|
Bruges, Belgium!
Romantic little city, amazing chocolate, beer, mussels, bike rides along canals with windmills, ....if I remember correctly there are some direct flights from DC to Brussels and then it is a quick train ride to Bruges. Vancouver is also a great city...with possible side trips to Victoria or Whistler both are beautiful. |
| What about Charleston? |
| Savannah is an insanely expensive plane fare right now or a 10 hour drive. |
OP here. I am actually from NYC. We go back pretty frequently. Love and totally miss Manhattan. |
| Napa is great for couples, but you're right to not want to waste a lot of time traveling. Why not just go to NYC? Museums, shows, dining? If you're more outdoor activity minded, there would obviously be better options. |
| I second the Puerto Rico recommendation! Cheaper and easier to get to than most of the Caribbean destinations (with lots of direct flights from this area). San Juan has some lovely "cultural" and sightseeing options. And decent beaches (though the best are on Vieques). |
| Naples FL. Beautiful beaches, excellent food, reasonable flights. The Ritz Carlton is nice. |

Not to hijack the thread but we are looking for something similar but not too far (3-4 hours flight max). Or, I am willing to drive 5-6 hours. But, we are limited to August so I am trying to avoid somewhere that is insanely hot (i.e. Texas, Vegas or New Orleans) and really crowded with kids (which is what scares me about resorts in the Caribbean/Florida or cruises in August). We love beaches but I am open to a city experience as long as they have a hotel with a nice pool.
Any ideas? |
| New Orleans of Puerto Rico would be my pick. |
|
-New Orleans because I've never been. I would spend it eating, going to hear music, maybe visit friends in Jackson and lots of time in our A/C hotel room.
-Sedona - earlier thread was talking about spas and that Mi Amos looks fantastic, love cool rock formations, hiking and spas together. -Rockies starting in Denver or Montana, DH has never been, maybe Glacier, a loop through RMNP, or Tetons/Yellowstone. -I like to scuba so Turks and Caicos, specifically Grand Turk, are on my bucket list. I recommend Bonaire and Little Cayman to others who enjoy diving and low-rise, quiet naturey islands. After that maybe Roatan or the Grenadines. |
| I would go somewhere warm and beachy. Bahamas or Caribbean. |
