Looking to get away with DH alone for a long weekend. This will be the first time we will go away alone after our second was born.
I'm thinking Europe in the fall but we may lose too much time on a plane. Where would you go if you could away alone for ~4-5 days? |

If you're going before hurricane season I'd go anywhere with an amazing beach...DR. Bahamas, Mexico, Jamaica etc...
If it's hurricane season I'd still go to a beach, just "hurricane safe" ones like Aruba or Barbados...but DH and I are MAJOR beach bums...not having that time a couple times a year has been the hardest part about being new parents...Oh well, there are bigger problems

I would go to a beautiful resort area with him, where we could do a combination of these things:
1. Walk/hike 2. Eat over the top delicious food and wine 3. Be pampered 4. Do something adventurous ...and yet be relatively accessible by plane so we don't lose time! So the places that come to mind are: 1. Arcadia Nat'l Park up in Maine (is that what it's called?) 2. Nappa or Sonoma in California 3. New Orleans, LA <--- FOOOOOOOD! (And music!) 4. Santa Fe, New Mexico <--- go to Ten Thousand Waves for the evening after a good hike 5. Montreal, QE, Canada <--- has everything and is sort of French

For 4 days, I would not get on a plane and go to Europe. Having lived there, and travelled between here and there many many times, you just lose too much time to travel and the time change blows.
We have gone to Vegas for that short of time period and even that I think was too much travel time. My vote is Miami. Stay somewhere nice and luxurious (if you can afford it, but if you are talking Europe just based on airplane tickets, I think you probably case) - like the W Hotel. HEAVEN. |

It depends alot if you want to just chill on a beach or get out and explore a city.
After our first we went to an all-inclusive in Mexico so this time we wanted to do something a little different. We decided to go to Charleston in the fall. Plan on just eating, sleeping, and walking around town. If you want a city trip, you can never run out of things to do in New York of course, but I'd also suggest Chicago. And I like the idea of Montreal, it's sort of like being in France but not as far! |
| We're considering Bermuda for a vacation like this. Has anyone done Bermuda for a short 4-5 day trip? |
| A cruise.... |
|
I would do (and have done) Europe if you can spend 5 nights there plus 1 night lost for traveling there. Even then, we only go where we can get a direct flight (London, Paris, Rome- I'm sure there are others). I don't think I'd do it with any less time.
Otherwise, I'd keep it somewhere under 5 hours. Bermuda is awesome, but starts getting chilly in the fall. I'll also add another vote for Miami or Napa/Sonoma or anywhere in the Caribbean with a direct flight. |
15:44 again. We've done Bermuda a few times. The flight is only about 2 hours so it's perfect for short 4-5 day trips. Just remember that the temperatures are similar to the temps in South Carolina, so it's not warm year round. |
| Galapagos Islands |
| Turks and Caicos. |
| If money were not object, a lovely suite with room service overlooking the beach on some island with a charming town nearby where we could wander out for food after some much missed sex. I want the ocean view because I don't plan to leave the room for the first two days. |
OH, okay, thank you so much! We are considering it for perhaps next May or June or so, so I think that could be good timing for good temps in Bermuda. Yes! I am getting excited now! Thank you for your reply!
