VA Republicans deny judgeship to gay prosecutor

So then, because he is gay, he MUST become a judge - he cannot be rejected? This makes no sense. You are just pulling the "gay" card - this is becoming the most pulled card there is - way more than the few who pull the race card. It's like the boy who cried wolf - eeeeverything has to do with being gay.

He should not be approved because he is gay, but neither should he be rejected because he is gay. In this case, his opponents made it quite clear that they rejected him because he is gay. In this case, there was an actual wolf.

Just stop it. No one said that all homophobes are black.

Well yeah, it has been repeated over and over and over and over again on DCUM. Have you not heard, it's the Black race that have single-handedly prevented the advancement of gay marriage. Why, not judgeships as well.

No. Over and over I have heard you twist this issue. Sorry but homophobia in the black community is a real issue. We need to own and address it. Shouting down every thread on homophobia because you have an axe to grind makes the rest of us look bad. So stop it.

No, i will not. If you think homophobia is so bad in your community, then perhaps you should be posting on the websites where the Black community is more than 10 or 15% of readership. And by the way, I am not the only one who has posted and have been disgusted for the last week about every thread containing the words, "Black people caused the defeat of gay marriage in California", and "Black people will cause the defeat of gay marriage in Maryland". I have not twisted any words, I have simply regurgitated your trash.
Has it occurred to you that some of these threads are being started by trolls who are trying to get a rise out of people? You're responding exactly the way they want. Don't fall for that!

Actually he is highly qualified and was recommended by a bipartisan committee. So I think the point is here that he has the "excellent credentials" card. It's the Republicans who are pulling the "gay" card.

In case anyone has not noticed, it is the top weapon in the Republican PR war to accuse the opposition of whatever sin they are currently engaged in.

If they are moving money from the 99% to the 1%, they accuse those who complain about it of class warfare. If they are engaged in policy that hurts minorities, it is racist to mention it. If they introduce bills throughout the country attacking women's health, it is playing politics to say there is a war on women. And if they block gays from jobs, it is "playing the gay card" to speak of it.

Was there any non-gay reason that they gave for rejecting him? The opposition clearly stated that they opposed him because his past support of gay rights made them fear he would not be a neutral judge.

When you come up with the non-gay reasons for rejecting him, please let me know.
