how much to tip at Nandos?

I was thinking the same thing, I don't tip at a Chipotle or Panera and its basically the same concept I THINK..

I wish I knew when to tip!

If they get regular wages, I think it's rude if there's a tip line on the receipt.

I normally just leave a few bucks at Nandos.

Right what about Corner Bakery and La Madeleine - they deliver the food and clear up. And yet I've never seen people tip.

I used to work at Mongolian BBQ where I just took drink and dessert orders, explained the process, brought rice and tortillas, and checked on people. I made "tipped server" minimum wage which was $2.15 at the time. It's basically something for the accounting system to take your taxes out of - I never actually got a check to cash and owed taxes at the end of the year that I had to budget for.

That said, most tips were in the 15% range with some 10% and some 20%. 15% may seem stingy, but a waitress at a restaurant like that can cover more tables at the same time than a full service waitress so it evens out.

If you are paying at the counter, they are likely splitting tips among the staff for the night. If you really want to know the impact of your tip, you can always call Namdos and ask if they pay minimum wage for tipped employees or non-tipped employees.

I see plenty of people leave a few bucks on the table at La Madeleine. The bussers probably end up with it, but they are probably the same as the runners. At Corner Bistro we have tracked down and given some bucks to the runner. She was great, got high chairs, tracked down our stuff and extras. She really was working hard.

I also dislike the Vapiano model. Thought it was cool at first but it is impossible to eat there with 3-4 people (like a work lunch). You are scattered all over, waiting, paying, some things take longer, tracking down food, drinks. Either have it instant or have it all sit-down!

OP, we just leave a tip on the table.
