Do you still use Clorox bleach and Lysol?

Anonymous
You will have to pull the Clorox bleach out of my cold dead hands before I give it up. Noting and I mean nothing gets bathrooms and kitches cleaner and whiter than Clorox. Also I use clorox after cutting up raw meat in the kitchen.

I use vinegar/water for basic clean up, but I bring out the bleach when I need the big guns. Never have used Lysol, I actually don't "get" lysol, or what it is used for.

Additionally, the worlds best cleaning produce ever invented in COMET powdered scrub. Nothing gets tile grout and bath tubs cleaner than some comet and a good old fashioned scrub brush.

Yes to both.

Sheesh.

The joke's on you though -- you are afraid of bleach but your house is full of bacteria.

Actually, a study at VA Tech showed that spraying a surface with vinegar and then spraying it with hydrogen peroxide (on top of the vinegar, or vice-versa) actually killed MORE bacteria than chlorox/bleach.

Here is what Michael and Judy also have to say about Risk Raisins and Rabbits in their concluding paragraph...all I have to say is what the f-?

Well, those of us who have raised bunnies or have bunny friends know that rabbit raisins really can look very much like real raisins. So it became real easy to imagine an evil rabbit raisin lurking inside of a bunch of real raisins when I started thinking about this. However, if you've never seen a real rabbit raisin, you'll have to just trust me on this--they really do look like raisins. Sort of. OK. Squint.

Lysol is gross. I've never bought it. I do have Clorox in the house. DH uses it for laundry sometimes and it is the only thing that gets stains off of my light countertops. It gives me a headache so I don't use it other than that. I am a vinegar/water, Method, and 7th Generation person. I LOVE the Method wood cleaner and glass cleaner. They smell so good! I am sensitive to the stronger chemical cleaners so it is nice that we have such good alternatives now.

For the poster who asked about pledge and endust, that junk leaves a ton of residue. Buy lemon oil instead. Same section at the store. Try old English. Avoids fumes too.

And yet, they're still alive.

Everywhere is full of bacteria, and all the bleach andd hand sanitizer in the world can't change that. Which is good.

Some environmental groups advocate "environmentally safe" products as alternatives to commercial germicides in the home-care setting. These alternatives (e.g., ammonia, baking soda, vinegar, Borax, liquid detergent) are not registered with EPA and should not be used for disinfecting because they are ineffective against S. aureus. Borax, baking soda, and detergents also are ineffective against Salmonella Typhi and E.coli; however, undiluted vinegar and ammonia are effective against S. Typhi and E.coli 53, 332, 333. Common commercial disinfectants designed for home use also are effective against selected antibiotic-resistant bacteria 53.

Morons clorox is only harmful if you drink it and to the idiot talking about benificial bacteria you are soooooo fucking wrong, the benifical bacteria are things like probiotics in yogourt not surface bacteria, they are 2 completely different things. This is what happens when you get ignorant people reading into to eco marketing and attempting to apply their own lack of knowledge. Let me guess you are a scientist and know the difference between

You people are really arguing and insulting each other over the merits of bleach vs. vinegar vs. H2O2 ????

I've been looking for straight ammonia-not for in door cleaning. I'm a chlorox fan and mixing those products is dangerous.

Well I use ammonia for rodent prevention-pour it around base of house etc. Any seen it?

Well, not all of us are arguing.

I still haven't seen anyone post anything about why chlorine bleach is harmful (if used correctly I mean). What are the health concerns people are worried about? I use it all the time, properly diluted.

Apparently the joke is on Judy and Michael. They are making paracetic acid on their countertops by spraying them together on their countertops. And so it is more hazardous than vinegar and H202 on their own.
