From the left-leaning Wall Street Journal:
There it is. The State of Texas admits that registered Hispanic voters are going to have a problem producing ID. 'Nuff said. |
have we produced the evidence that there is a fundamental need for voter ID laws? im still waiting. all this back and forth on instances where we need ID is a diversion. what is the proof that there is some massive problem with people showing up claiming to be joe are really tom and vice versa?
i think passing laws that ensure the people counting the votes know basic math is more pressing than this. |
We've always had to show ID in Fairfax. I would think that should be standard everywhere. How could you keep the same person from voting all over the place? |
whether you give your name or show ID, your name is on a list. this is why you are told to vote at a specific location based on your address and like. i cant just go to VA (live in MD) and walk in a place, give them my name and vote, and you couldnt do it coming to maryland. |
A driver's license is not an ID card. It is a driver's license. I think the republicans want to have a national registration program with identity cards. So now when you are stopped by the police, private contractor, or company, they will ask for your national ID card. If you do not show it you can be arrested(this is the case in many states now) or denied services. For convinces, these card could carry a RFID tag. This will allow you to move through security points easier(and track you, not that your phone doesn't do that now, but that by private companies) It is amusing that the right wing is pushing this with all their black helicopters they see. The dems should require any voter ID card to include your gun ownership status- you know register those guns. That would stop all this.(or Obama could come out in favor of a national ID card to prevent "voter fraud"...man that would kill it and Fox would be going crazy) |

We should require I.D. and set up a free state process to get everyone I.D. Send I.D. buses into poor neighborhoods. Find a way to save votes for people who don't have I.D. and get those votes counted in as soon as the I.D. process can be completed. Have people on-site at the polls to get the process going. Do what you have to do to get the job done.
The idea that you can vote without proving who you are is insane. And the idea that you can prove who you are without a picture is equally insane. |
Breitbart's media lives on and picks up an expose on the ease with which anyone could potentially vote in someone elses name, even a dead persons!

remember Obama's Aunt Zeituni? She got disability and public housing as an illegal immigrant:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHoAuk76fT8 He didn't come up with this-she is just an example of the holes in our system. |
If voter ID laws were passed with programs like what 11:01 said, I might be more comfortable with it. But usually voter ID laws are fairly transparent attempts to reduce voter turnout among the poors.
Otherwise, requiring people to pay for acceptable ID is a poll tax, and that's un-Constitutional. |
drivers liscense laws are fairly transperent attempts to discourage driving among the poor. |
I D requirment for gun purchases are fairly transperant attempts to discourage gun rights to poor people. |
ID requirement for alcohol purchases is a fairly transparent attempt to discourage young poors from alcoholism. |
