Your family member is not supposed to talk about the trial he or she is serving on. |
It is not unthinkable that his defense attorneys are monitoring everything on the internet about this trial and when they see the above, will start screaming for a mistrial. There are two alternates and your relative should be removed immediately. |
|
Provided that the family member has not shared any details regarding the trial itself, there would be no grounds for recusal. Simply disclosing to your family that you are serving on a jury won't cause any serious problems.
And, of course, remember: this is the Internet. We have no earthly clue who on earth the above poster is, or if they actually have a family member on the jury. Sometimes people just make crap up. |
Simply put, that's ridiculous. |
Agreed. Pretty sure that stating the fact that you're serving on a jury is not grounds for removal or a mistrial. So, let's not over react when we don't know what we're talking about. |
| I hope he is getting his ass majorly kicked every single day he is in prison. And I hope this continues for the rest of his life when he gets life. |
| He's been in the local jail, which is not too bad in Cville. Wait til he gets to the state pen... then Georgie is going to meet some serious dudes who would LOVE to have a preppy boyfriend. That's when Georgie is going to cry. Money isn't going to get him out of this one. |

This entire story is just terrible and totally sad. I think, it could have been prevented. G.H. needed mental health treatment for some serious psychological issues as well as alcoholism. I blame his parents - where were they???? Did they not notice that their son had some serious issues? Where were his coaches/mentors?
YL - I think this poor girl did not know how to get out of an abusive relationship. How sad. Why did she not feel comfortable confiding in her Mom or maybe sister? I wonder how many young people are in similar situations nowadays. Hooking up, no serious long-term relationships, lots of jealousy, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, not ever know real love and trust. Sad situation all around. |

As a parent of a college student, I can tell you that we don't know much about what's going on at college -- only what DS tells us. If we had an angry, abusive, alcoholic on our hands, I pray we'd see the signs. As for his coaches and teammates, they saw the true GH, but apparently his LAX strengths overshadowed his weaknesses. As for the relationship GH-YL, it was 2 years, so not a "fling." As a parent of a 17 yo DD, I pray she'd be strong enough to leave the relationship and/or ask for help.
There but for the grace of God, an all that. |
| But wouldn't you as a parent see signs much earlier? If you child was angry, abusive etc., it probably wouldn't start in college. I'm pretty sure that you would see signs much earlier. What was his behavior while attending Landon? What did his teachers/coaches/friends etc. say about him. I'm sure it didn't start after graduating high school. |

Not many kids of any background turn out to be killers. Much less local kids who go on to UVA. YL stuck with him for 2 years.
I still can't get over the sight of him now compared with his mug shot. It's haunting. |
Why do people feel compassion for a dysfunctional entitled rich kid who is taught by his rich family that he can get away with anything just because they are rich and white? He didn't have psychological issues. He had the arrogant elitist attitude that he was above the law and that he could get away with anything he wanted. And he was taught this by his father. Do a Google search for George Huguely IV and you'll see stories and quotes that show that he has this same attitude. There's nothing psychological about just being a rich a$$hole. |
Wow, so good to hear the facts from someone who knows everything that's going on. Thanks! |
Not PP but just because someone does something so heinous doesn't automatically mean they are mentally ill. There are some very nasty, evil folks out there who just don't give a damn about anyone else. When they injure or kill they need to go away for a long time. |
Not the "mentally ill" pp but DCUM is so full of wisdom tonight. See I thought that every killer was mentally ill. But thanks for clarifying that it's not always the case. |
