| I would have to say that D.C. area (lack of) snow removal is a very close second to Metro as a national embarrassment, but people here are not overly worried about it. They are too busy trying to keep up with their neighbor! Which should be also be a national embarrassment. Come to think of it, the list of national embarrassments could go on forever..... |
The T in Boston is so unreliable that you can't commute on it if your boss expects you at work at a regular time. Now which line is most unreliable can change over time, as they progressively replace cars and repair track, but there is usually at least one line that is just useless. |

Keep a detailed log of your metro commutes for a week, and then keep a detailed log of a driving commute for a week. Include all costs, including parking, gas & mileage. Then do an honest comparison. I remember the bad Metro days much more than I remember the good Metro days - I probably have 6 good metro rides a week and only 2 bad ones, if even that.
I have mostly taken Metro for the last 20 years because about every second time I've driven to work, the drive has truly, truly sucked. And if you're paying DC parking garage prices, the cost is probably comparable. (plus you can read on the train.) |
| No one is forcing you to ride the metro. What? You want a system like Tokyo has? No one wants to pay for it ....you will have to increase taxes. LOL! |

I'm from Sao Paulo and I miss the art exhibits in the metro stations...
I also miss the yummy food sold on the platform
Hm.. I also miss the one fare any day any time anywhere with free transition to bus service... I miss the lines to get in knowing where the doors will open, I miss people saving seats for pregnant women and elderly/disabled folks... I miss my mom and dad too
|
| Metro should hire the laid off postal workers. |
Mmm... What do they sell? |
I loved a stand at my work place's station that sold yummy pulled chicken sandwiches... It was a 3 story sandwich with a salad and fresh squeezed juice for R$4.99 OMG my mouth waters just thinking of it... Corn on the cob, fresh sliced fruit, hotdogs, sweets, you can get anything! http://www.metro.sp.gov.br/ingles/index.asp Enjoy! My mom just mentioned there's a library in one station now. This is so freaking cool! |
