Funny, I tend to agree with you. For all the blather about the "rough-hewn wisdom of the American people", we're really pretty dumb, easily manipulated, and superficial. Not to toot my own horn, but I predicted the winners of the last 5 presidential elections based on this extremely complex political strategy: "The Taller, More Charismatic Candidate Wins"

Clinton v Bush: Clinton
Clinton v Dole: Clinton
Gore v Bush: Bush (by a hair)
Bush v Kerry: Bush (forget who you want to have a beer with, Kerry looks like a haunted tree)
Obama v McCain: Puh-leeze! (unless you think its impossible for a black man to get the lead )

Anyone who thinks Obama v Newt will come out with Newt taking the oath of office on 1/20/13 is delusional.

True, its like a crack adict, America needs someone like Newt to get clean and move forward in life but they just arent ready to drop the crack pipe (dems). Maybe eventually when things get even worse will we drop the crack pipe and move all conservative.

You seem to be utterly delusional, but I do agree with you that there's no way America is ready to vote for Newt. Unless maybe he's running for President against Jerry Nadler or Barbara Mikulski or something.

It's all a popularity contest. Always has been. Always will be.

America will "move all conservative" when the GOP nominates someone marginally more handsome than the Dems. If it's a tie, the taller one will win. We're idiots. Get used to it.

Please it Newt or Mitt..TP'er will pick Newt. He just can't keep quite. It like the salesman who keeps talking and loses the sale after someone has said they will buy. He took credit for the end of the cold war today.

Newt is the only one who truly represents the GOP. I hope he wins it.

Then I guess the GOP is ok with health care mandates, hates its own medicare plan, is flexible on immigration, and will support cap and trade. Good news!

You'll do better playing Keno in an off strip vegas lounge.

LOL.

But your humor may be a bit too subtle, since typos are so common. Besides, it's a bit patronizing to parody the illiterate. But the espn is precious!

He wants poor children to work as janitors in their schools...if he had said All children...but poor children?...."more porridge please sir"

Well, no. But the GOP will literally do or say anything in order to claw back sufficient political power to move its real agenda: tax cuts for the extremely wealthy. It's only the rubes at the bottom who make up the "base" and provide the political muscle who are shocked over and over again when it turns out it's all window dressing.

So long as unemployment somehow manages to stay below 20%, Obama would eviscerate Gingrich, and make an ashtray out of his skull--electorally speaking. It's the same fallacy the Dems made in nominating Kerry or, say, Dukakis: "This guy is *brilliant*! Of course the low-information "independents" will flock to him!" And in the meantime, meatheads across the land who know nothing about anything--but feel voting is their civic duty--will go to the polls on Election Day and pull the lever for the guy with the nicer haircut, or who's marginally taller. The overpaid political talking-heads spin this as "Who you would rather have a beer with."
