Gingrich? Really?

They are not just memorized responses like all of the other candidates (including Romney and of course Obama) have. I could vote for him -- too bad about all of the personal baggage that will probably derail his candidacy. And somebody really needs to do something about his wife's helmet hairdo.

Like Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich is what a stupid person's idea of a smart person looks and sounds like.

Newt wins by default. He's not black. He's not a member of some Satanic pseudo-Christian splinter-sect. He's not a dumber doppleganger of George W Bush. He's not a woman.

Didn't think the GOP could manage to cock-up their chances at winning the White House in 2012, but they managed to find someone less electable than John McCain. Good for the country, though.

USA! USA! USA!

Really? So americans don't care about ethics violations, infidelity, lobbying, flip flopping. They don't care whether or not they will be required to buy health insurance, and they could go either way on environmental issues.

Is there a gas leak at your house? Something is making you woozy.

Funny, I tend to agree with you. For all the blather about the "rough-hewn wisdom of the American people", we're really pretty dumb, easily manipulated, and superficial. Not to toot my own horn, but I predicted the winners of the last 5 presidential elections based on this extremely complex political strategy: "The Taller, More Charismatic Candidate Wins"

Clinton v Bush: Clinton
Clinton v Dole: Clinton
Gore v Bush: Bush (by a hair)
Bush v Kerry: Bush (forget who you want to have a beer with, Kerry looks like a haunted tree)
Obama v McCain: Puh-leeze! (unless you think its impossible for a black man to get the lead )

Anyone who thinks Obama v Newt will come out with Newt taking the oath of office on 1/20/13 is delusional.

True, its like a crack adict, America needs someone like Newt to get clean and move forward in life but they just arent ready to drop the crack pipe (dems). Maybe eventually when things get even worse will we drop the crack pipe and move all conservative.

Wow, Newt is your idea of clean? John Boehner didn't think so when he tried to oust him in 1997.

The mid-2000s Newt, the one who hung out at AEI and actually participated in a respectful way in their panels that us liberals have to attend for work purposes, actually seemed thoughtful. That Newt is buried pretty deeply beneath the teabagger pretense, though.

9:51 You think people outside the beltway really follow what happens in Washington? Go online and read the local papers. If you are lucky, you will see Newt referred to as the former Speaker of the House and a quote from him about how the only person who is perfect is Jesus.

I read the St. Louis Post Dispatch and they cover these things there.
