frustrating grocery store experience

OP, don't cave to the rude D.C. people in line behind you. Dare them to say something. What transpired had nothing to do with you. Next time, take care of it then and there. If the store wants to open another line, fine but it had nothing to do with you.

OP, get your refund and move on.

Wow, how do you people think service jobs work? I've worked service jobs and if you try to do your job well, you'll stay. If you don't or can't, you'll be fired eventually.

Stores know that people have the occasional bad day. If that's all it was, the store will know that based on her other days. The OP should complain.

To 14:47: It does have something to do with her; she had to wait in line, with morning sickness, for a long time and THEN she was overcharged.

OP, if you plan to ask for a refund for the overcharges, it will be clear that the cashier made a mistake. I don't think you need to lodge a separate complaint.

No, I wouldn't say a thing. I've had bad check out clerks before. Some of the time, three weeks later they are the best ones in the store. They were just new. Other times, they never turn out to be that great, so I just avoid that line if possible. And If I get in it, I just try to smile, be nice, and help the poor person out as best I can (as I keep an eye on the prices). I can't imagine it was a great day for the clerk either.

But I do feel for you OP. I know when I had morning sickness, I had about 5 minutes in a grocery store before I felt horrible. I can imagine your misery.
