I listen to audiobooks while driving and exercising, and read about a book a week that way.

I agree with the English teacher that it's hard finding decently-written books. I have high standards for writing quality. Many MANY of the books recommended on the myriad "what are you reading" DCUM threads are intolerable to me, writing-wise. You can have the best story ever devised, but if you refer to your youthful female protagonist as "wafer thin", you might as well be writing the next Hangover sequel.
