I'm so over summer... anyone else waiting for it to end?

I HATE summer here! Humid, horrible never ending mosquitos, loooooong days!!! Overcrowded swimming pools with high fees and for what?!
I look forward to not stepping outside and getting 35 mosquito bites in a small amount of time.
I look forward to not nearly passing out in the unbearable heat and worrying about my young children in the heat. Last year our car broke down on a very hot July day and we had no AC and I panicked. The tow truck took 25 minutes and I was so worried about the kids. We were dripping with sweat.
I look forward to MOVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been saying since June that I can't wait for fall. Sweaters, fleece and a pumpkin spice latte are great! Even better, 60-70 degree days without mosquitos! I spend more time outside in the fall than in the summer. I miss the midwest!

Seven months pregnant here and yeah, I am totally over the DC summers.

It's not either long winters or long summers as a choice. Boy you guys don't get out much do you?

You know, they have excellent schools up north, too. Why wait?

Because our kids are in middle school, and a move would be very hard on them at this point. Also, DH and I are 50+ and in stable jobs, which is worth a lot in this economy. We don't want to start all over again on that score.

I'm from New England and deeply regret agreeing to move here to begin with. Had I known what summers would really entail, I'd never have agreed to it.

Yes, because being in a place with moderate summers and really harsh winters is worth having a much worse jobs picture. Geez.

Yes, I have always loved summer but I am tired of the mosquitos feasting on my son at every opportunity. I used to be a total mosquito magnet and now they ignore me in favor of my poor toddler!!

Aww, poor OP, it's just tough after being on vacation for a whole month. Boo freakin' hoo.

Noooo! I can't believe it's August already. I'm not ready to give up lounging at the pool and lazy mornings just yet. I feel like my kids just got out of school yesterday. The back to school commercials are depressing me.

We swam everyday (just opened the door and jumped in the lake), ate tons of fresh produce, and totally relaxed. Got back two weeks ago to scorching heat, jury duty, and then back to work... yuck! I'm so sick of the heat. I don't have a car so DD and I walk everywhere, which normally is fine, but right now it sucks. So sick of this weather, the brown grass, the wilted looking trees... all of it. Anyone else looking forward to autumn, crisp days and nights, and sweaters?

Where in the Finger Lakes? We want to take a vacation there too but have never been there.

That came out when I was in HS, and still I thought it was the funniest thing I ever saw.

Huh? New England doesn't have a "much worse jobs picture" in the abstract (and certainly not 20 years ago) My point was, our job situations would be worse *now* if we were to move *now*. We can only work from where we are *now*.

RE moderate summers and really harsh winters, bad/good weather is a very subjective thing. I LOVE winter. I am always disappointed when spring comes. And I love moderate summers, with cool or cold nights. So yes, eventually, I can and will move back to a climate that fits that description.

I love Summer - Spring and Summer are just my favorite seasons. I love Fall, but find Winter so depressing, especially once the Holidays are over. I don't want Labor day to come!!!!!!!!!!

Me too. I lived there for 10 years, and while I appreciate the offerings of DC, I really, really miss the perfect weather and beach.
