So this is how the wealthy in D.C live

I can't believe how naive you people are. "I think I saw some Marlo furniture." It's called staging, honey. The items you see in these photos (and in most photos of multi-million dollar houses) are no one's prized personal possessions. Can you say "rob me"??

As for the PP who suggests that the kitchen be re-done with cherry cabinets and granite countertops? Am I the first one to audibly snort at that? There is no more tired, overdone, home depot bargain basement look than cherry cabinets and granite countertops. It's that's what you're looking for, I can recommend some nice new construction across the river. Just be careful not to lean on any of the walls... you'll fall right through them.

THIS!

I love the house, including the kitchen. And no, you're not the only one to snort. You don't put cherry cabinets and granite countertops in a $9M house. In fact, I wouldn't even put them in my house, which is but a fraction of $9M. However, I would rip the black counters out though and replace them with calacatta marble, but I love the painted cabinets and the floor.

I also like the kitchen.

And I hope not all of these houses are emptied and then staged with generic furniture, as I loved the glimpse inside Ted Kennedy's house (despite the very sad circumstances, of course).

I think I could make that place work for my family. What's the powerball at right now?

The kitchen is too long and narrow for me. I personally prefer more open spaces, an eat-in area in the kitchen, and flow into another room (dining or living room). I hate been partitioned off from family and friends when I'm making dinner!

I love coffered ceilings, but that one looks odd. Shouldn't the beams be more widely spaced?
