What do you wear after work at home?

Anonymous
I have thought about this. I think I look pretty cute for work and yet the vast majority of the time my husband sees me I'm wearing comfy pjs after work! And on weekends I'm typically in yoga pants and I do try to wear a more fitted top, unless we go somewhere and I'm in cuter pants and a slightly nicer top.

I really am focused on comfort on weeknights though. And most nights we just eat, clean up/bedtime routine, and then I'm prepping for the next day before plopping down on the lap top or in front of the TV for a few minutes before heading upstairs for bed.

Another yoga pants / t-shirt wearer. Yoga pants are Champion from Target - so nothing fancy, but perfectly comfortable with wearing that to the grocery store / to talk to neighbors. If I get in earlier, might go the jeans route, or shorts if it's hot weather.

Pretty much the same thing I wear on weekends. But I guess I'm lucky - between maternity leaves and working PT, I've actually had to make sure I have off-hours clothes, so there's generally something to pull out of the drawer.

What are all these jugemental husbands wearing?? The dudes I know are in sweats or flannel PJ pants or (in the case of my own husband) longjohns within 5 minutes of walking in the door.

Last Monday I came home and put on my bathing suit and laid out in the back yard with a book. I hope to do that tomorrow, too.

After work I pretty much wear what I wear on weekends. Jeans, cargo pants, or leggings with a comfy top (sometimes I"ll keep on whatever top I wore to work). Slippers. Shorts or a knit dress in the summer time. Always wear a bra until bed time.

Yoga pants are pretty much only for working out, yard work and walking the dogs.

DH wears jeans or khakis with the button down he wore to work.

We don't do heavy housework during the week (maybe run the vacuum, a load of laundry, but no scrubbing of toilets or bleach involved), so we can wear the same jeans pretty much every night for those few hours (we don't go commando).

OP, I get the question too. Let me give you the answer my husband would want from me, if what we want to do is try harder after neglecting our husbands for a while. My husband would say he doesn't care what I wear after work but he would love it if I were more fit in whatever I was wearing. Of course, that's going to take me (and you) more work than buying and wearing a few new outfits.

Yoga pants and fitted T and I try to brush my hair when I get home. My DH wears jeans and T-shirts around the house. I'm not gaining weight but starting to be softa nd flabby and I'm worried.

yoga pants/tee or flannel pjs. I used to stay in my clothes until after dinner, but since i had a baby I can't do that or I'd be getting avocado and applesauce all over my work clothes.

yoga pants/sweat pants and a tshirt or fleece

I wear t-shirts and jeans or some sort of pant with stretch (yes, yes, sweat pants). When I get home, I'm making dinner, eating it, cleaning up in a rush to play with my son. So I need to be able to move and get dirty (the play with the son part).

I do try to stick with fitted t-shirts - telling myself they look better. Target actually has some nice ones.

In Bossypants, Tina Fey has a little chapter called "What Turning Forty Means to Me." And all it says is this:

"I need to take my pants off as soon as I get home. I didn't used to have to do that. But now I do."

And that about sums it up for me. I take off whatever I wore to work or out and put on cropped yoga pants or something similar, with a t-shirt. I ditch the bra ASAP. I'm slim and I want to be comfortable, so that's what I opt for. My husband changes into something similar based on the weather.

Our neighbor, who works from home, wears tight-fitting pants/jeans and shirts all the time. I don't know how she stands it.

14:47 here. Should add that (A) I did this even before I turned 40 and (B) the pants are from Athleta or Lucy, typically, so they're not super baggy or dowdy. But I am definitely not dressed at the level of my neighbor!

I WAH...so same thing I wear doing during the day. I workout mid-morning and shower then throw on...in the summer..it is some type of gap outlet cargo-type short skirt with a funky t-shirt or sleeveless tank or sundress and always flip-flops. In the winter--jeans and sweaters. I don't put on my ugly pjs until the kids are in bed. This way DH actually gets to see me look semi-nice..since the mornings I almost doing preschool drop-offs in pjs, unbrushed hair, etc.

I really don't understand the yoga-pants obsession. It may be because I have thunder thighs and they have always looked awful on me, but I think even the nice ones on skinny women look sloppier than decent jeans. So I wear a "nice" tee or sweater (Target or ATLoft clearance) with jeans or jeans-equivalent (casual cotton slacks/capris/skirts/etc) pretty much any time I don't have to be dressed up. I limit my yogawear/pjs to bedtime and exercise time only.
