| what exactly does wait list mean? is it a nicer way to reject? |
| Received letter today (Saturday). We were waitlisted for 1st grade. |
|
Waitlist is real at Potomac - they do reject applicants.
We were WL one year and then accepted the next. From Jay Mathews Article, 3/3/11 "Charlotte Nelsen, admissions director at the Potomac School in McLean, said she loves talking to parents of rejected applicants, except she had banned the R-word from her office. Instead, Potomac’s letter says the child has merely been “denied for next year.” Nelsen said “children will grow and change.” She tells parents, “Please don’t feel this relationship ends with the letter you receive in the mail.” |
| 15:54 thanks for your response. So does this mean we sit and wait, or is there anything else we can do? this is our first time, as parents, going through this grueling process, and it is quite humbling to say the least. We applied to 4 schools and have been WL to 3, rejected to 1. |
|
15:54 again -
Just contact Potomac (and the other WL's) and let them know that you truly are very interested in their school and want to remain actively active on the waitlist. Email and quick call should be good.
Also, please know that there are other wonderful schools in the area that might have a spot or two. Good luck! |

| Any word on when Potomac will send FA notifications? The website simply says "Mid-March" but I'm wondering if anyone has received anything yet. I'm too afraid to call the FA office! |
| Bump. Anyone? Or crickets? |
| I doubt they will go to wl this year- sad to say. |
what makes you say that? |
