There is colorism in a lot of Central, South American countries and in Caribbean. Hispanic is a weid box to check on census forms. You can even be from Spain ffs. My dad's family was from Spain. I am half Spanish. Yay get to join Hispanic Enployees Club. Not.

Has nothing to do with bullying. No one posting would care that OP doesn’t speak Spanish, but when OP posts a derogatory post about Hispanics when OP doesn’t even speak Spanish and hasn’t even experienced Hispanic culture besides some superficial interactions, it is offensive.

OP isn’t a spokesperson for Hispanics. The title of post is ridiculous and inflammatory. How long would a post last entitled:

Americans, why do we hate each other?

Blacks, why do we hate each other?

Europeans, we do we hate each other?

Be the change you wish to see OP. You likely don't realize you have a chip on your shoulder and expectation of rudeness and people react in kind. Be friendly to others right off the bat and see how wrong you are.

I was born and raised in Brazil and there was so much prejudice/racism against people from Central America. People often referred to them as “cuca,” short for “cucaracha” (cockroach). I saw that among the Brazilians I met after I moved here, too. It’s really awful.

I am not Hispanic but live in an area where there are many. They don’t know I understand some Spanish so I hear them being judgy as heck. They judge their own plus black people whom many of them consider dumb.

There is a lot of colorism among Hispanics. Sometimes it’s centered around country of origin (Argentinians and Chileans tend to be lighter skinned and Salvadorans, for example) and sometimes it’s directed at anyone with darker skin. The only people surprised that Hispanics can be racist against other Hispanics are White liberals who use words like Latinx.

If it makes you feel better, a lot of Europeans don’t like people from other European countries. That’s basically what motivated Brexit. Russians hate everybody and everybody hates Russians…lots of Western Europeans look down on Eastern Europeans, the northerners have views on the southerners, etc.
And of course there’s also a lot of discrimination within Asia against people from other countries — it’s not like Chinese, Koreans and Japanese all get along swimmingly.
While it would be nice if everyone could leave the old country disputes behind when they come to America, history teaches that they don’t. Go to Boston or Chicago where there will be three Catholic Churches right next to each other because for generations, the Poles, Irish and Italians didn’t really want to go to mass with each other. You’d have st Patrick’s, st Joseph and st Stanislaw all within a quarter mile.

So you are asserting that anyone with ancestors from central or south america, even if they were born and raised in the US, HAS to learn Spanish or...what?

I’m saying embrace your culture. Why not learn Spanish? What exactly are the downsides?

Spanish isn't the indigenous language though.

Spanish came from the European conquerors.

The asians are super racist too towards other asians. They are a million times worse. If you are asian, you know this to be true.

Supposedly, africans are also very racist towards other africans.

It is just human nature, unfortunately.

Growing up, I heard a lot of racism from other Hispanics in particular those from some countries in central America. I grew up in the '90s so people were more open back then but I heard a lot of bigotry and hate towards other Hispanics. As a child I felt very isolated growing up because I was one of the few South Americans in my grade. As an adult it feels the same way, but the hate is coming more from new immigrants who have assimilated but seem to be more envious if they perceive you have more than they do. And if you read that lady's post it sounds about the same even though she's new here. It definitely feels ostracizing and cold.

Exactly, your family is Hispanic but it doesn't sound like you went and visited family in Latin America or hung around extend family and friends who are Hispanic. If you had you would have included it and included what country in S.A.

And by posting it as a given that Hispanics hate each other, when we certainly don't collectively hate each other, you out yourself as someone who has had limited experiences with other Hispanics so you have this warped perception.

Only a handful of white people tried to make LatinX happen but it didn’t. The Spanish language uses male and female rules. Mixed group is Latinos.

The countries have rivalries and stereotypes but they don’t bully for any reasons listed. Like the whole world there are bullies everywhere and we can’t seem to get rid of them.

One thing most Latinos agree on, they all hate Argentina. Argentinians are lighter skinned and see themselves as more European than Latinos. There is a superiority air about the country.
