Not sure why your title says he is obsessed with respect? No one is going to respect him if he is the jerk you describe. I seriously think you have enabled him to a great degree because of your mis-characterization of this.

Not op, it’s a personality disorder. He interprets supplication to be respect, when it’s obviously not. These can be miserable households.
