For those of you who don't have student athletes and are not following NCAA ever-changing rules or proposed changes, OP is likely contemplating re-classing her kid... as others have implied on this thread. Reclassing is very common in DMV (AAU) basketball circles amongst the more elite advanced teams. My son (who has played for TTO and other top teams) is not reclassing but he now knows apx 20 (!) former teammates from past few years who have or will reclass this year before entering high school! OP -- I'm certain the St James and other sporty "schools" will happily take your money while they train your kid 6+ hours/day! FYI (hard to follow all the recent spin)... https://www.si.com/college-basketball/complaint-month-ncaa-new-eligibility-model-imperfect-but-right-move |
| ^^ OP, print your kid's transcript and evaluate it to MAKE SURE IT MEETS NCAA requirements before entering senior year or your teen may be ineligible! |
| I’m still very curious what OP’s kid’s thoughts are in all this… |
| You can switch to boarding school and redo 10th there his first year there. It isn’t unusual for your reasons and it gives him a year to settle in before the rigor or 11th begins. |
| A HS buddy was held back, repeated 11th grade, simply because he was youngest in the class. Did not change school. Did not have social issues either. FWIW, at that school each grade was about 50 boys and about 50 girls. |
You don't even realize how insane you sound. Student athletes? Give me a break. |
You’ve never heard the term student athletes? |
np: Or course we've all heard it. But it's ed-speak jargon for coaches, and is a cope for certain parents. |
Thia is what a friend did they repeated 10th grade for their child at a boarding school |
