Here's what Scott Pelley says that the new leadership is doing. They are trying to turn 60 Minutes into a propaganda outlet:

For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them. Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over 60 Minutes interviews is not how this is done. Finally, incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc. In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all.

Scott was right and wrong at same time. I worked at places new CEOs and layoffs etc. He was not laid off, he was fired for cause.

He had a melt down in a meeting and called his boss a murderer as he murdered his co-workers then doubled down on a follow-up meeting where it was ment for him to apolgize and was fired on spot for cause.

I agree his attitude and outburst accelerated his departure, but there was never any scenario where he survived the transition long term. The remaining correspondents will be out before long.
