| DH’s Patagonia fleece from early 90s and my Chacos from the late 90s. Love them. |

I am not a skier but I still have my snow coat that I use a few times a year (shoveling, tubing) from college. I'm 49.
I also have a sweater that I bought at Wal-Mart for about $5 at least 15 years ago that I can't part with. It reminds me of a sweater that my grandmother was wearing in a picture of her holding me that my mom had displayed in our home. I was 6 when she died so I remember that sweater better than I remember her. I just can't let it go (and its still in style so....) |
Me too. A black short trench coat that I got at Filene's Basement 30+ years ago for $25; it still seems stylish and useful. |
I still have a sweatshirt from them that's I got in the 80s. Did you experience the catalogs before they were acquired by Gap? Those were so fun to read. |
| I have a Benetton sweatshirt from 1988. I wore it for about ten years and then stored it away. My 16 year old daughter wears it now. She wears it to school a few times a month. It's really well-made and has held up well over 38 years. |
| boxers to sleep in |
| Patagonia zip up (30yrs old and looks brand new) |

I have an embarrassing amount of clothing from high school that I wear regularly around the house. Lots of 100 percent cotton items that wear so much better than poly blends or jeans with added spandex.
I think it's helped that growing up my mom always line dried our clothing. I switched to using a dryer in college but then lived in Europe for a decade after graduation so returned to line drying everything and keep it up as much as possible now. Clothes last so much longer that way. |
| I have a bunch of stuff that was my grandmothers including a London fog trench from the 80s and so great blazers from the 60s. As far as stuff I bought sadly k have gained to much weight to wear a lot of my older clothes (although I keep the nicer pieces in the back of my closet, including a ton of nice stuff I bought when I first started working in the 90s). I do have a cropped DKNY suede jacket from around 1994 that I still wear in the spring or fall if I am assured it won’t rain. It still looks great and is basically always in style. Looks particularly good with high waisted pants or a dress. |
| My ski parka from 1978. My DD wears it now. It's her warmest coat. It's goose down. |
|
I have a Pea Coat from the Gap from like circa 1992. Still great. Replaced a couple of buttons. But otherwise still an outstanding winter coat. And looks great.
There is zero chance anyone is buying anything from the Gap or other chains today that's going to both last and be stylish for 30 years. Different times. But it's a really good Pea Coat. The Gap in 1992 was quality. |
| Gray fleece oversized boyfriend's shirt that DH wore in college. It is still in great shape and so comfy. |
| LL Bean duck boots from college in the 80s. |
DP. Yes! All those "adventure" descriptions of everything. |
| Hound's tooth trench coat that belonged to my grandmother. No idea how old it is, but it is in great shape. |
