What supplements are you taking and why?

Doc said to take B12 and D, since I’m borderline
Magnesium for sleep sometimes
Evening primrose oil for inflammation
Zinc if I feel like I’m getting sick or around sick folk
An occasional multivitamin

Plus spironolactone for hormonal acne and allergy pills because I’m allergic to everything

spironalactone (helps with hair on my face, the only menopause issue I have)

NP. This is interesting to me. I also take spironolactone, but for adult acne. I was told it might *increase* facial hair. I wonder which one it is?

Vitamin D (deficient)
Viviscal (hair thinning)
Turmeric curcumin (mood and joints)
Fish oil (just because I guess)

What are your thoughts on the Viviscal? Have you noticed an improvement? Thinking of taking.

I take the maximum calcium + Vit D every day but my bone scan still shows osteopenia. I also do weight-bearing exercises. Not sure what else I can do.

What is a “verity” of nuts?

Speaking as someone who is fairly committed to eating a whole food diet and cooking from scratch, you are insufferable. The thread is specifically asking about taking supplements.

I also take Vitamin D as I have a deficiency as well.

Then I take a huge (!) horse-sized vitamin.

What age did you start getting bone scans? What kind of weight bearing exercises? I'm mid 40s and have never been advised to do either one.

I take collagen for my appearance. My skin definitely looks worse when I run out and don’t take it for a while.
Vitamin c, 1000 or 2000 mg for superstitious reasons.
Chlorophyll water, makes your gas/poop odorless.
Magnesium for sleep.
As needed I take kava for my anxiety.

I'm not an expert but, for all those taking vitamin D and calcium, I believe that you need to take it with vitamin K. Vitamin K directs calcium to your bones instead of arteries for example. Ask your doc.

I’ve been taking it 3-4 years. I think my hair would look way worse if I wasn’t on it. Hair thinning runs in my family and both my sisters’ hair looks way worse than mine.

You actually want to be able to monitor your poop smell FYI - if your poop smells “different” and like specific things that can indicate cancer and other issues. Not good to mask it 24/7.

I stopped taking Biotin because it interferes with lab test results and the absorption of medication.

Vitamin D and C to boost my immunity and overall health

D3+K2 / i have osteopenia

C / the crunchy chewable is just tasty; no idea if it helps anything but I like it

B12 / I am vegetarian and rarely eat animal products

I find it interesting how many of us are taking vitamin D for a deficiency. Mine got so low that I took 50000 IU once a week for three months and that finally put in back in the normal range. I need to have a follow up test to see if its still normal.

I think I had my first one around age 50 or so. I'm 57 now and I've had three.
