Master Ballet Academy

In that post, Molly Hohlt was announced as part of the school's Artistic Leadership along with Slawomir Wozniak, the founder of MBA.

I know Molly Hohlt as my DD's former ballet teacher, and we found her to be conscientious, rigorous, and caring.  She has a history in the DC ballet community from her teaching/leadership roles at CityDance, TWSB, and MYB.  She's also familiar with MBA, since she sent her own daughter to study ballet MBA in Arizona.
We've stayed in contact with Ms. Hohlt even though she no longer teaches my DD and we know others who have benefited from Ms. Hohlt's private coaching (including becoming YAGP finalists!). So, I'm openly a fan of hers.

I reached out to Ms. Hohlt to get a little more information about MBA DC.  She said they are currently accepting video auditions for their ballet training -- and they are also offering a boys program (they are recruiting faculty specifically with boys in mind) and supplemental classes including tap, acro, hip hop.  She promised to make more specific schedule information available in the next few weeks.

Ms. Hohlt also confirmed that they will be located near the Tenleytown Metro.  They are still aiming for a September opening, so I'm also impressed at how fast they seem to be moving.

Anyway, based on my experience with Molly, I think MBA DC is worth watching as a place for serious dancers to train and I'm looking forward to seeing more details soon.

Did she say which building near the metro? I saw they took the address out of the original post. I have a hard time wanting to look into it without know what facilities are secured

I find this program to be discrediting to real tap, acro, and Hip Hop traing. The connection to Citydance makes it so much worse. Two thumbs down. Find a real dance school with solid character and leadership.

Gonna ignore the CityDance flame -- but would love recommendations for where to get real tap, acro, and hip hop training. Where would be better?

For anyone who finds it important, MBA’s owners are outwardly pro-Trump, anti-vax, etc.

I'd be curious, too. There is no construction or renovation happening at the location next to GDS that was in the original IG announcement. MBA has three months to get permits, order and install sprung floors, and hire teachers without knowing how many students are going to enroll. Is this actually going to happen by the announced September opening? And there still is no website up, not even a rudimentary one. I would welcome MBA as a serious ballet training option in NW DC, but the announcement seems a bit premature and hasty. Not very promising or confidence-inspiring at this stage.

They have a new building In Tenleytown- not the one that was originally advertised. The new building has minimal set up- essentially just laying down floors, barres and mirrors.

My daughter did their summer intensive last year and the year before. What I can tell you is that they are anti Covid vaccine, not vaccine in general. They had a family member experience serious complications from the vaccine (albeit in Europe) so I believe that is what is behind their feeling on that particular vaccine. As for Trump, my daughter never reported hearing anything about Trump, politics or anything unrelated to dance training. I think people are welcome to have whatever religious or political views they want, as long as they are not trying to indoctrinate others. And in this case, they were not.

The owners will be making monthly visits to DC and will be involved in all aspects of training, coaching, and performance preparation. You should email them and ask questions before you start making unfounded comments.

2 questions:
1. Do you understand that what you describe is the definition of impersonal chain instruction?
2. Are you MAGA too?

You seem rather worked up about Master Ballet Academy coming to DC.

Master Ballet Academy DC website is live!

Website outlines MBA program offering from age 5 to pre-professional with tuition, schedule, and uniform information.
email address for enrollment inquiries -- plus a link to parent portal

I don't see anything about adult classes (yet?)

Also not seeing an address -- just a paragraph confirming Tenleytown and address is coming once facility is finalized...

You should check out Master Ballet Academy's insta page! I can't believe how good some of their dancers are- it's incredible. They have a 10 year old who already dances like a professional. She won this huge international competition in May- best overall dancer in the world!
