Girl, what are you talking about? I've never heard of ditchwater hair. Ever. But I've heard of dishwater blonde for decades. DISHwater, which yes, is kind of gray brown. That's what people mean when they talk about dishwater blonde hair -- sort of a dull, dark blonde that is too gray to be brown.

Also do you think ditches only exist where there is red clay soil? Are you seriously this dumb?

I believe you grew up somewhere with red clay where people called reddish blonde hair "ditchwater blonde" and that this is a weird colloquialism in whatever small podunk town you grew up in, and you think it's a universal term.

These undertones are critical if you want to match things like make up, or in the old days pantyhose. You can have a dark skinned, almost black woman who has pink undertones, a very pale white woman with yellow undertones, and an asian woman with peach undertones, which completely defies the cultural tropes from the last century regarding associating colors with specific groups.

This is vital for skin matching some prosthetics as well. The people calling this all racist can just opt out of colors completely and sport smurf-blue or alien green makeup. We don't care.
