As someone who is not Caucasian, I have to ask. What do these things look like? Google for once is about as confusing as the terms themselves.
What do you consider: A) Dishwater Blond/Blonde B) Strawberry Blond/Blonde C) Olive skin Was younger curly haired Taylor Swift a strawberry blonde? Is George Clooney olive skinned? Who is dishwater blond/blonde? |
| It’s hard to find celebrity examples of dishwater blonde, because we all get highlights because dishwater blonde isn’t pretty. On me it is basically the color of gun metal. It’s darker than a really light brown, but still blonde. Darker in winter and can lighten up quite a bit in summer; my dad had dishwater blonde hair that could get almost platinum in the summer sun if he was sailing a lot. |

Strawberry blonde is very light red with lots of blonde mixed in. Think of the color of a golden retriever or a pot of gold.

| Olive skin is a racist term. |
+1 Just google Ginger Conventions. You can tell the deeper gingers and the lighter strawberry blondes quite easily:

It is offensive for "white" people to describe other people as "olive" or "almond-eyed. " |
| Are we really going to have a thread on skin color? |
If OP puts it in the Beauty Forum then it's just a discussion on matching foundations and undertones, amirite? |

Dishwater blonde is in. I see lots of people who have intentionally dyed their hair like this:

I think early Nicole Kidman was strawberry blonde. And I think early Taylor Swift was dirty blonde. |
Google actually seems very clear here, if you search for images. |
And you know exactly the color of the poster's skin. You sound like you just want something to be annoyed with on an anonymous forum. |
Dishwater blonde:
Strawberry blonde (I'm using a picture of a child because natural strawberry blonde is quite rare in adults -- it usually darkens to either a true red or a dark blonde in adulthood, and most adult strawberry blondes you see are achieving the shade through either highlights of naturally red hair or a dual process bleach and tone of brown or dark blonde hair, it is a notoriously tough color to maintain because it fades or turns brassy easily): I am reluctant to post a picture of olive skin because there are many skin tones that fall within the "olive" family. It usually describes skin with green or gold undertones. It's the tonal opposite of someone with rosy undertones. But there's a huge variety and that term can be used to describe multiple races, including white people. I've heard Mila Kunis, Salma Hayek, and Zendaya all described as having olive tone skin. It's hard for me to tell because they so often wear makeup and are photographed or filmed under very bright lighting. Kunis definitely seems olive toned and Zendaya likely is, Hayek's skin can read as olive at times but also reads as much warmer at other times, possibly due to bronzer but also perhaps her skin has some warm undertones that come out when she gets sun. I don't know! |
What??? Olive skinned people are white. Olive skin is a trait where white people tan nicely and don’t have pink undertones. Like Italians. I’m pale but have olive undertones. No one would call me olive skinned though since I’m so pale. |
