Poor people's thread: What can't you afford but want to own?

Renovate my kitchen.
Splurge a little on clothes, haircuts, etc
Not worry about debt.

Lived frugally my whole life. A bit above frugal -modestly - now that I am married and working, but kids sorta re-set the threshold on spending so back to frugal.

Reading about the ton of disposable income dcumers allegedly have bums me out (pangs of jealousy too I admit).

Wish I didn't have to be so self discipled with indulgences and splurges.

A luxury car. My commute is between 1 and 2 hours on 95. I’d like to be more comfortable.

I acquired this about a year ago. It’s amazing but…copperheads, huge spiders, and this week a very injured raccoon that broke my heart to see.

I can't afford my own thread so I have to share.

Single family home instead of a condo.
Childcare (kid is school age but we can never afford sitters for anything)
Dental work

And the joy of finding random strangers hunting on the property. Not fun.

Same. All of it.

I sometimes wish I could just blow a whole paycheck on something totally frivolous, like a resort vacation or a really nice couch. But I know the guilt would be too much. Almost everything gets saved.

A backyard oasis: outdoor kitchen, tv, swimming pool, hot tub. I'm a homebody and our backyard is comfortable now but I'd love to be able to really glam it out.

Weekly cleaning of my bathrooms - I don't mind doing the other household chores but I hate cleaning my bathrooms.

Complete overhaul of my wardrobe. I've been a SAHM for 20+ years and I rarely buy myself new clothes. I've been wearing some outfits for 10 plus years.

- No more seasonal depression.
- Never have anxiety or depressive episodes again.
- My dad to accept that he needs to go to a nursing home.
- I'm single, so perhaps a wife.
- Peace in the middle-east.
- I would love to be a "natural" at playing the piano.
- Switch to part-time work and downshift to retirement. I can somewhat do this now with the money I have saved.
- A single-level home or condo with soundproofing.
- More desire and time to increase exercise from 2-3 times per week to 5 times per week.
- No more colds, flus, COVID.
- To become a natural conversationalist.
- A desire to read the Bible more frequently.
- A few more friends.
- Lifetime Federal health insurance. I'm 10 years shy of Federal Employee retirement age of 57, so I can eventually get there.

You can do some of these things!! Get a cheap used piano keyboard on Facebook Marketplace and one of the adult learning books (like the Alfred series) and practice just 15 min a day and you will be amazed with the results and it will enrich your life (I did this)

Yeah, when we moved in I found it bizarre that the prior owners had multiple no trespassing signs up. I no longer find it bizarre.

A weekly cleaning service and a true gardener who could take over the extensive task list that I currently perform on my gardens every week. (not grass cutting but an actual gardener.)

I am true middle class and single and I’m living in a house I inherited, but I can’t really afford the carrying costs. If I sell, I’ll need to move to a different region of the country and my job won’t allow so I’m stuck and feel very poor and overwhelmed with upkeep.

The opportunity give my kids a debt free college and grad school education, at a school if their choice that they can get into. I hate they’ll hate to take on loans or stay in state.

Can you find a housemate to split costs?
