I’m with this poster. Watching this stuff with your kid allows you to have values discussions without them even realizing it. My daughter and I agree that Rory is a moron for dating Logan. And Belly is the least interesting girl ever since all she cares about seems to be her love interest. We can yell at the screen together. We can disagree about whether Conrad gets a pass for being emotionally stunted due to his mom’s death. I can joke about whether her friend is dating a Dean or a Jess (or Conrad or Jeremiah). I find it helpful to watch more adult content than I comfortable with just for this purpose. |

Exactly. The question was about shows we watch TOGETHER. We discuss the troubling content. But it's also totally fine if my list is not for you. The first comment just had the air of I was wrong to watch Ginny & Georgia with my teen. |
I watched it with my 13 year old son and it led to some really important and valuable discussions about mental health and social pressures. There is no glorifying of sex, alcohol, drugs, cutting. Each storyline shows the negative consequences of these behaviors. |
| OP here. We have watched a lot of these. I had not heard of Animal Control though, and that looks fun. DD would probably like Ginny and Georgia and Derry Girls. DS not so much. Severance looks like something we would all get into but don't have Apple TV. |

my name is earl, young sheldon, ted lasso,
The kids think the middle is boring but will watch it if I put it on. It makes me feel better about my parenting. |
We just finished the middle with our elementary and middle school kids. Everyone enjoyed it. |
Control F'd the responses and didn't see The Pitt, but we can't get enough. Might help my wife is a surgeon, but my 12 year old loves it and the gore isn't an issue

Exactly. I posted the Breaking Bad and Dog the Bounty Hunter suggestion. I watched those with DS and we talked a lot about drugs and crime and what not to do. Some uncomfortable sex scenes popped up here and there but also good opportunities to talk about things. And really, I just like both of those shows. |
I dunno. I think it’s important to push on some of that with our boys. It’s ok to watch shows with female main characters. I haven’t watched Ginny and Georgia but Derry Girls is hilarious for any gender. My teen DS watched it and liked it a lot. |
| We recently watched the Outer Banks and it was great discussion around terrible behavior and the unrealistic nature of the entire show but it was a fun watch (kind of reminds me of a modern-day more problematic Goonies). |
