Got into IB school for PK4 (Ward 3, so this is first year). No sibling preference.

Well, I was hoping for slightly better numbers, but as expected I'll be watching waitlists all summer and fall, looks like. But we matched with John Lewis which we're excited about!

For K:
1 Ross Elementary School Waitlisted - #24
2 Garrison Elementary School Waitlisted - #10
3 Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS Waitlisted - #17
4 E.L. Haynes PCS - Elementary School Waitlisted - #6
5 John Lewis Elementary School Match (enrollment pending)
6 Lee Montessori PCS - Brookland Sibling Offered Waitlisted - #1

For 1st Grade:
1 Ross Elementary School Waitlisted - #45
2 Garrison Elementary School Waitlisted - #20
3 Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS Waitlisted - #35
4 E.L. Haynes PCS - Elementary School Waitlisted - #8
5 John Lewis Elementary School Sibling Offered Waitlisted - #1
6 Lee Montessori PCS - Brookland Match (enrollment pending)

We put Lee down without much thought and will be turning down that offer - but is it just me or is it crazy that we got an offer for 1st from them with what must be a pretty crappy lottery number? They must be really falling in popularity.

Question for folks who have done this before - when do waitlists start moving? Like if the person above turns down the Lee Montessori offer tomorrow, will everyone on the waitlist for 1st grade for Lee see their number move one spot immediately? Or do you not see one-off changes until after enrollments are due on 5/1?

#1 spot on waitlist for SWS for K, let's go. If not that will hopefully get Maury or Ludlow (our IB is not good).

Yes, not until after 5/1

Not crazy, montessori schools typically only open initial slots in transitional grades into new environments. For dc that would be pk3, 1st, 4th [and 6/7 depending on adolescent cycle].

What does this mean? One kid at each school?

PK3 offer at Yu Ying with my K student high enough on the waitlist that an offer is a certainty based upon historical data. That’s really best case scenario for lottery results day for us, as YY was our #5 and everything higher is DCPS or SWS where we were never getting both kids in this year anyway.

The one wrinkle is a high enough waitlist offer for K at Brent (which I really like, even with the swing space) that we might have a decision to make later, but doubtful the juice is worth the squeeze versus one school two kids. Looking like we’ll be YY-bound. Huge for us as I was desperate to avoid K at my IB.

Are you the poster whose husband wanted to ebike 3 kids from Columbia Heights to ITDS? If so, I am so glad that you are far down on the waitlist there.
