We are picking our kid up early either way but this is terrible for teachers who may be in harms way and/or have to pick up their own children who may be released early. |

I appreciate this too. My children have an early release but my school is staying open. There are no subs for me to leave early. My anxiety is through the roof knowing they’ll be home alone worrying. Signed, A teacher |

| I’m a teacher at an area independent school that has said nothing. I too have children at other schools being dismissed early. How is it unsafe for everyone else but safe for us to remain in school? Also feeling stressed. |

| I am perplexed at the approach of saying nothing at all. It makes the school look unprepared and/or uncaring to teacher/student safety. At least send a note that the school will be open but that parents are welcome to pick up early. |

What is there to say? I find it lame how schools are putting out a “we are monitoring the weather message”. Send out a message with a call or don’t send one out at all. |

Yes, it is so soft to be concerned about dismissal and walking/driving home in the middle of an elevated tornado threat. Give me a break. I grew up in Texas, with frequent severe and tornadoes, and we absolutely were dismissed early for this sort of forecast. We also practiced tornado drills and knew what to do in severe weather. Does your school? Mine doesn’t. |

| The approach to weather decisions at SSSAS sums up the weak leadership at the school. They send an update yesterday saying they’ll make a call later, leaving families wondering and putting working parents in limbo. They just sent an email canceling after school activities but then leave the door open for another update by 11:00 AM. They leave parents waiting and unable to plan while they wait until the last minute to make a final call. |

They sent out a note at 8 AM when teachers were already in class with middle schoolers saying they would be closing at 1 PM. Most teachers in public schools find out about closures through these emails. I sincerely hope this is not the case with private schools and that they had time to make arrangements Ahead of time. |
