Yeah, that’s my point. The rate of admission doesn’t mean anything.

Oh my God you people are relentless. When there's data going back a decade showing more girls applying every single year but nearly identical admissions rates by gender you can pretty much assume the school isn't taking gender into account. It's certainly more likely to mean that then some know nothing on DCUM "thinking" otherwise.

Are you saying years of official data should be trust more than my browsing instagram ?

Seriously, though, I worry for people when I read this board.

I am kind of tired of people whining about how it's easier for boys to get admitted to colleges in general, or about how it's easier for girls to get admitted to engineering schools. Teach your children to work hard and excel instead of always looking around for every headwind and making excuses.

I don't see whining here.

UVA uses the same admissions criteria.

Wow, I thought you were exaggerating about them looking the same but I just saw the page. Quite unsettling.

And they all seem to be pre-med or pre-law.

They're all really cute. So what's the problem?

Boys don’t post on these pages.

And so many say "I am 100% committed to UVA". Not sure what is real or not these days.

Right. 16 percent for boys, 17 for girls. Not easier for boys.

In contrast, at William & Mary it was 41 percent for boys and 34 percent for girls. Easier for boys.

Seperate by OOS now.

I'll tell you what -- learn to spell "separate" and I will.

Girls generally have an easier time getting in to Engineering. However, lately a lot more girls are going into the engineering school for the BS Computer Science degree.

If my DD were applying and she did not want CS, then I would try to have ECs and recommendation letters talk about her interest in whichever other (non CS) degree she's interested in.

Exactly. I have two sons (class of ‘23 and current senior) and neither has posted to one of those pages.

Well, UVA didn't accept women until 1970 and W&M until 1918, but I think I know what you mean.
