OP is the idiot. And so obviously really hates Taylor that she has lost all credibility

Janis lost all credibility at least 15 years ago. Her tirades got her banned from Churchill when her son was a student there. Source: I worked there at the time.

Let me guess, you have no issue spending taxpayer money without accountability and you don't care that teachers and students are going without what they need.

Stop with the fake outrage.

It’s not fake outrage when some of our kids, teachers and schools go without basic needs.

You can be outraged at that (possible) fact. But you can't be outraged by the decision to purchase mugs. There is a difference.

What difference?

EX:
"I am outraged that a ceiling tile fell on my child's head"- justified
"I am outraged that the shchool district purchased mugs"- not justified.

They could have spent the money to fix the ceiling tiles vs mugs. See how that works.

This is like noticing that the EPA is failing to invest enough in clean water and therefore they shouldn't be buying pens for the Social Security offices.

It also evidences to understanding of budgeting and finance.

Capital expenses are not the same as operating expenses.

Maintenance staff are in the operating budget.

NP - It is amazing that people will defend waste. Sure, these (and the logo bags) are nice to have, but they need to go at the absolute back of the expenditure line. People can bring a paper grocery store bag or pillowcase to collect their free school supplies and every MCPS teacher already owns way too many gifted mugs.

There are lots of operating expenses that need to be made... how about some books?

From the MCPS Operating Budget -

Category 11—Maintenance of Plant
Maintenance of Plant includes activities concerned with
keeping the grounds, buildings, fixed equipment (other than
student transportation assets, and furniture and movable
equipment) in their original condition of completeness or efficiency through repair, scheduled and preventive maintenance,
or replacement of property

you can't address indoor air quality for $2152 so buying mugs is a bad idea but implying it will fix indoor air quality is equally stupid

How much did the HEPA Air Filter that Superintendent Taylor has in his office cost?

One has nothing to do with the other.

Except we could go through the budget and identify a bunch of things just as silly as the mugs and logo bags, and it would add up to money that would make a difference. It is stupid to justify each line item of waste.

Never met Janis but I can tell she’s exhausting. Not sure why she keeps making new threads for the same topics or why Jeff is allowing this.

Your guess is incorrect. I'm a teacher and have been for almost 30 years. The issue is you Janis.

I'm not Janis and I'm tired of the excuses of why my and other kids needs cannot be met, especially when they say its money. If you are a teacher, why are you on here during school hours?

Ever hear of personal time off? 🙄
