I get the shotgun, but what's the thinking behind the pistol? If society collapses, I think I'd rather have a rifle. I'm not sure the ability to conceal a weapon has much value during an apocalypse.

A rifle won't do you much good in close-quarter combat. A shotgun will. So will a pistol. I have nothing against a rifle, but I'm hopeful to not announce my presence from a distance. OTOH if I'm sheltering in place, I might want one to keep marrauders at bay.

I’ll stick with my 10” suppressed AR with 30rd mags over a shotgun..

Imho best prep is good health, good neighborly relations and knowing basic life skills.

OP for the scenario you are envisioning, it's not worth it. It's already too late.

Now, for a temporary storm power outgage, you can follow general advice. But for any sort of bombing/nuclear war, if you have to ask you are SOL.

Are you kidding? In a doomsday scenario, please let me go quickly!

Who wants to live through a gruesome reality???! We're all gonna meet death eventually, I'd rather go quickly and easily.

I'm not gonna worry, stress and prep. There is no way you have any idea for what you need and how much you need until the time comes. Best case scenario, you try your best to get a little of everything that buys you a bit more time. Odds are it won't be enough no matter what you stock up on!

I'd rather go hiding. If I get found, then I'll go fighting. I'm not going to kill myself when I'll never know if that was really necessary or if I would have survived or if things would get better quickly. But then, I would never kill myself under any circumstaces. I'm not a quitter.
