2HR DELAY WHYYYYYYY

AND THEN AT 5AM, THEY CHANGED IT TO ON TIME.

What high schooler is checking their email at 5am if they went to bed thinking it was a 2-hour delay?

Well actually they had the delay message sent then sent a message saying we are not going to have a delay but may have one so check at 5am. LOL. And sent a message in the morning that yes, we are still opening on time.

I have kids in both FCPS and FCCPS - let me tell you it reminds me every day why I moved to FCCPS. Kids actually learn there and attend school. Totally wild concept.

I know two families that moved out of FCCPS due to bullying, so no.

FCCPS has the worst HR department anywhere. If things don’t change, they will have a massive staff shortage next year so don’t recommend them to anyway. Morale has never been worse. I would not recommend this district to anyone right now. - staff member

Jesus people will complain about anything. The county is 400 square miles. Just because your part is fine doesn’t mean another part isn’t getting freezing rain. Stop thinking the world revolves around you. Maybe we should going back to it being announced at 5 am in the TV.

or we could break things up into smaller districts like they do in the north east

the county model is dumb and kids suffer fror it because some street has a 5sqft patch of ice or 1 bus has gelled up diesel

No one in all of Fairfax county had freezing rain yesterday. I would have loved to cancel the delay this morning. In fact a delay should be just that. If you delay 2hrs you should add in 2hrs to the end of the day.

I came from the northeast. Yes that is an advantage because you are only dealing with a small town or city a few miles. But it gives schools less buying power. You are t buying for 180K students but maybe a few hundred or thousands. Your cost per item will be more. The opportunities like classes or specialty offered may not exist. My small city had 1 HS, the next towns HS was only a mile away and much better. Because each town and city was their own school district you couldn’t transfer to a different school. It was considered at a district and you would have to pay for that at least in Fairfax County. There are some choices that you can transfer to you don’t like the IB at your school then you can go to the next school with AP and it’s not considered at a district. You want a leadership program you can go and transfer to that school and you’re not paying extra those choices we didn’t have in small districts. Could you imagine if people didn’t have a choice in Fairfax County? They complain even more.

So my elementary school kid who gets out of school at 4 o’clock should now get out at 6 o’clock. Why what about her after school activities? That makes no sense I’ve never heard of any district add two hours to the end of the day because they had a delay.

Because FCPS cannot predict exact weather conditions and know that they will piss people off with either call, so they choose the option that will most likely keep them out of court with wrongful death lawsuits. That's WHYYYYYYYYY.

I doubt if that legislation would ever make it through Richmond.
