This, if he wants to send them money, find but I wouldn't use a credit card. Too much drama. |

My parents gave me a credit card linked to their account until I was about 25. It was my emergency fund until I built my own. The deal was that I could use it in a emergency, but if possible, I needed to call first and get the ok. They would also call me every once in a while and tell me to treat myself to dinner, or buy myself a new outfit before an interview, or book a plane ticket to come home, or whatever. I was not using it on the regular, but it was really helpful when I did and comforting to know it was there if I ever needed it.
Perhaps you could suggest this type of arrangement. Though I really think given that they are both adults it is ultimately up to them. |

Since he has no kids, this wouldn’t bother me at all.
I have an aunt who is pretty generous to us (nothing crazy, less than 1000 a year) and my mom hit the roof when she found out because she thinks that means she needs to give equivalent gifts to her own niece, my aunts daughter. I said “well, why don’t you if it will make you feel better?” “Why would I? I don’t even give YOU anything!” “Yeah, I know.” All these people are loaded and if they want to help a young family I think it’s very nice. |
