Favorite Laundry Detergent?

This. Used for a couple of years the arm and hammer ones, and the ones sold by Costco. Recently switched to Ariel and Ariel oxyclean both in powder form, feel my whites for whiter with Ariel.

For pp asking on when / where to add powder. I either add it to the drum, or in the compartment (remove the small attachment where the liquid goes).

I switched to powder because I hated all the plastic with liquids but felt like the laundry sheets weren't cleaning well enough (stinky teen boy sweat). I have had problems with the powder not completely dissolving so now I put one thing in the wash, like a towel or a pair of sweatpants, add the powder, and start the wash. Once it adds the water and starts agitating, I pause the washer and add the rest of the load. The sensor then adds more water to adjust for the larger load. It's an extra step but the detergent is fully dissolved.

I'm another powder user. I stopped using liquid because of all of the plastic. Powder comes in a cardboard box. It's very difficult to find powder detergent. But when I find it, I buy at least two boxes so I always have some.
I have a top loader machine, and I put the powder in the same compartment that you put the liquid except that you pull out the the piece in the drawer where you're supposed to put the liquid. Once you pull out that little piece, you're left with the drawer with the hole in it. I've never had an issue with the powder not dissolving.

I like the Ariel powder, can’t beat the price for regular detergent. For cleaner ingredients I like Clean Cult liquid detergent especially the juniper sandalwood but they have fragrance free liquid and detergent sheets as well.

Ive been using the Arm & Hammer sheets, but definitely need scented unless I want to wash sweaty workout clothes every day.

I dissolve the laundry powder in a cup of water and add that to the load.

Plain tide powder.

I find the pods use SO MUCH detergent, which really amps up the scent. If you use the amount of detergent you actually need, it's much less than the pods and thus less scent.

This actually makes me sad, because I love the "fresh laundry" scent haha.

Front loader: I dump the powder right into the drum, before the clothing. Not into the liquid compartment. I usually give it a few half spins to make sure it sinks through and isn't in any big clumps. I use cold for my darks and it always dissolves

Also, another pro, is that I find the actual washer is much cleaner. I don't get nearly as much gunk in the seal.

Anonymous wrote:Also curious to hear about the powder. Does it clean the towels better? Our towels always get stinky after a year and that never used to happen.

Do you use bounce sheets? I think they can dull the absorbing power of towels. So it may not be the detergent, but the softener or antistatic coating.

Can the oxiclean be used on colors or just white loads. What exactly does it do?

DH said he wishes that there was some scent but when we tried the Tide Pods with Oxi Clean from Costco the scent almost knocked us over. Is there a mildly scented detergent that isn’t as aggressive? Even with a newer washing machine and an extra rinse cycle the pods from Costco leave all the clothes smelling very strong.

Tide honey lavender, smells nice after wash, almost scent free after drying.
