Is the Presidential Scholars Program canceled?

Spring of senior year?

We used to to appreciate honors for the sake of it. It’s all too transactional now.

Well the app is a lot of work. Multiple essays most of which do not overlap with college essays. Hours of work will be required.

My kid is already committed to his first choice college so no need for another award for college apps. Is there any reason go to for this? Would he put it on his resume - would it help him get internships? help him get jobs after college? help him get into grad school? how many people even know what it is?

Also how hard is it to get once you apply?

So, is it worth it?

The only kids I knew were candidates had perfect SAT or ACT scores, also has to be in one sitting.

My VA kid has a perfect score

As best I can tell the award is a medal and name on a list sometime in the summer. In a busy senior spring semester, any opinions on whether the application is something I should encourage spending real time on?

No. The fun is the list, not the award.

I’m trying to determine if this is serious? DC is already committed to their SCEA school, and the senioritis is real.

Can confirm 1590 single sitting SAT Virginia is on the list.

Makes sense that 1590s are on the list, since that equates to a 36 ACT.
But trust me when I say they are next looking for exceptional ECs. Otherwise it is a waste of time to put in for it.
