What happened? Someone sent an ankle bracelet kid to Wootton instead of a special school.

In Maryland, juveniles aged 10 or older may be placed on electronic monitoring (ankle bracelets) for serious offenses, including crimes of violence, gun charges, carjacking, armed robbery, burglary, and sexual offenses. As of July 2025, the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) mandates detention for any youth arrested while already on an ankle monitor.

Crimes and Situations Qualifying for Juvenile Ankle Monitors in MD: 1. Violent Crimes & Weapons Charges: Crimes involving handguns, firearms, or acts that would be considered violent if committed by an adult. 2. Serious Felonies: Carjacking, robbery, burglary, and serious assault. 3. Sexual Offenses: Third-degree sexual offenses. 4. Pre-Trial Release Condition: Used for individuals deemed high-risk or as a condition of probation/home detention.

So that means he deserved to get shot?

No one deserves that. But what did he do to cause the dominoes to fall?

Are you asking what the victim did to cause the dominoes to fall? Do you still think it was a bullying situation?

What about the 15 year old girl the shooter pointed his gun at earlier in the day? Do you think she was bullying him too and that's why he threatened her with a gun?

It wasn't the shooter who had the ankle bracelet.

The victim (hospitalized) has ankle bracelet, and he & some other have been bullying the shooter. Not sure if the family or school has filed or done anything to take care of this bullying issue. And, it probably is a big factor why only the shooter shot this victim only.

There is another victim, a girl who has been threatened by gun pointing at her early Monday morning. Not sure what happened between them.

Can anyone who was at the parent meeting give us a sense of the feelings amongst parents in the room?

Did MCPS seem interested in engaging the community or more frustrated and bitter they were being put on the spot?

Also, who was present at the meeting from MCPS besides Taylor?

It feels to me like he was sidelined by central office. He is always very visible and sends a lot of emails but the few messages we’ve gotten aren’t in his usual style. I know people have mixed feelings about his time at Wootton but DS really likes him and we think someone else is really running the show now.

He also has Assistant Principals working with him. What is their role?

As usual in other cases within mcps involving serious incidents. The messages sent out are filtered or have to be "legally" appropriate.
